I was doing some testing on a new tool I am releasing shortly for https://hiveengine.usehive.com and I found the results really fascinating.
The forth tool in my Hive Engine Tools bundle is one that finds the top 25 authors for a tribe over the last 30 days or so. This tool is really good for looking over the distribution of a tribe and not only find the top authors but see how well the token is distributed.
I started with the obvious, my own tribe STEMGeeks.
I am pretty happy with this distribution, it isn't clumping and fairly even. Also @stemgeeks rewards are 100% burned and I usually take a 50% hit as I post in Leo most of the time. But this gives me some insight to see if these top reward authors deserve to be there.
The next obvious one to look at is Leo as it is the most popular of all tribes.
This distribution is quite a bit different and shows a heavy top end with a fairly smooth tail. While there are a few heavily rewarded authors, the distribution is fairly smooth after that.
Another tribe I was curious about is CTP as I recently bought some miners and was thinking about curating.
I see a similar curve as Leo, a larger rewards an then it smooths out. As you look through these you can get a feel for the typical size of the pool based on the amount of tokens distributed on the top. For example let's look at sports.
Sports is pretty interesting, you can see this tribe distributes a lot of tokens as the typical post has tens of thousands of tokens. The first half of the rewards are very heavy but the last half is a pretty smooth distribution.
Here you can see SPT (Splinterlands Tribe) distribution and this one I found the most interesting. The main account splinterlands has a massive portion of the reward pool where the rest of the top 25 is fairly well distributed. Granted this only covers the top 25, beyond that can paint a very different picture.
Pal is another tribe I had to check out, I think this one is interesting as you can see how few tokens are now distributed since the change to 5% proof of brain. These results are based on around a month or two, so there are still some larger rewarded posts in this sample but it does seem fewer people are using the tag and/or the rewards are just shrinking a lot.
DPorn was the most interesting tribe I looked at. Clearly this tribe has dwindled a lot and limited to very few authors.
I will be releasing this tool in the next day or so, but if you are curious about the distribution of another tribe, just leave a comment and I'll post the results.
