I adore this series, thanks so much.
Honestly I still don't quite get it, but things are starting to fall into place.
The one thing I don't get is this:
Why is HIVE so complicated/awkward?
I mean, I'm willing to learn, I love to participate in the experience, and getting HIVE feeds my ego tons more than Facebook likes. So I'm gonna stick around. Plus I like Splinterlands :)
My point being - when I first got into stocks, my bank app just showed me the price history (as well as other info that might be relevant) and I clicked "buy" or "sell". Yes, of course I had to read up on technical terms, but in theory I could just "buy low sell high" and get 30% of what's going on that way.
On Hive I feel like I'm always trying to guess -
- Wait, do I have voting power?
- Wait, why did I get a nice payout and HP, but still my votes are worth 0.001?
- Do my votes even matter?
- Wait, my votes can help me get my OWN score up?
- Were all those votes just greedy dudes trying to cash in on my post and didn't even read it?
(No hate, but ya know - it does change my understanding of the votes)
It just makes it really awkward to navigate as a newbie and makes it near-impossible for me to invite friends because I can't even explain to them what's really going on.
