This year's G20's priority is all about enhancing cross-border payments.
Pushing the frontiers of payments: towards faster, cheaper, more transparent and more inclusive cross-border payments
At the last G20 there was talk about cryptocurrency. This year, after resent development between banks and blockchain projects (especially XRP) will the board give the all green with DLT integration?
*CPMI is leading the discussion on cross-border payments ahead of the G20 meeting*
The main themes approached by the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) on the 18th and 19th of March are:
- How to enhance existing payment infrastructures and arrangements to make them fit for cross-border purpose?
- How can streamlining data exchange can improve cross-border payments?
- Explore the potential of new technologies and arrangements for enhancing cross-border payments.
- How does our work feed into the wider objectives of the G20 roadmap to enhance cross-border payments?
Their objective is to have an agreed consensus before the G20 date which will take place in Rome on October 30th and 31st.
Although there's no mention of the word blockchain, there are people and companies who are linked to it like:
- SWIFT - stating back in 2019 that "DLT networks are expected to develop to co-exist alongside traditional securities market infrastructures"
- Worldline - as in the latest blog see's crypto as a healthy way to simplify CBDCs infrastructure
- DG FISMA - sets the "initiative to work on the establishment of a European framework for markets in crypto -assets"
- ADA-microfinance - studied Libra (aka Facebook *cough* *cough* shit coin) as "the first private cryptocurrency with the potential to change the worldwide payment and monetary system landscape"
- Deutsche Bundesbank - wants "trading and token issuance platform, bridging digital assets with traditional banking services" a stark contrast from just two years ago when they were fully anti [more here]

- Saudi Arabia Central Banks adopts Ripple blockchain
- Ripples launches Private Blockahin for CBDC and signs 15 new contracts with banks
- US Paypal users and soon UK users can buy/sell and hold cryptocurrencies and PayPal buys Curv
- Microeconomics buys $2.19 billion BTC soon followed by Tesla Motors and Square
- Tesla accepts BTC payments as well as over 150 companies world wide including USAA, BNW UK, Microsoft, AT&T
- In 2020 AWS runs ETH on their Managed Blockchain, in 2021, AWS provide ETH nodes and easy connection to it's network
- Jin-Michel Mis petition to have France Central Bank buy/store Bitcoin and other cryptos
- in 2018 Microsoft puts Doge Guide on App Store, now Microsoft is being pledge to accept Doge as payment method and more Doge rumours
