In its two years of existence, Hive has consistently shown that it has what it takes to make it big.
Hive was officially born two years ago, and while it is true that a lot of what it is today started being built even before Hive existed under this name, we saw a lot of transformation and development in the last two years.
Perspective
Sometimes I feel Hive is so involved in my daily life that it's easy to lose the perspective of time. Sometimes it feels like things take ages to unfold, and projects are launched so long after they are announced, but when I stop to take a look at the big picture, it's pretty fantastic to see how fast things are moving and how many things are happening at once in this community.
Just think about how many new tribes were born in the last 24 months and all the new tokens created with them. Each of these tribes and tokens represents new opportunities for people with different interests on Hive. Of course, not all of them will be successful, and there is a good chance that many will crumble to dust in the process, but still, that's substantial evidence of how much value is being built here on Hive.
Hive has been quick to adapt to, and in some cases, to pioneer trends in the crypto universe. Just look, for example, at CubFinance. When it was launched, many people here didn't have the first clue about DeFi, and now, not only it's still around, but it's spawning other platforms with a very promising future. Through CubFinance, PolyCub and LEO, people in this community now have access to a wide variety of projects in different blockchains, even though there is no shortage of opportunities right here on Hive.
It seems like forever ago that I was taking my first few steps in DeFi with the help of CubFinance and everyone involved in it, and yet, it's been just over a year.
Hive also has a strong presence in the Play-2-earn industry. Not only do we have Splinterlands, one of the most popular blockchain games of the moment, but there are a variety of projects with the potential to replicate that success, such as PsyberX or eXode, to name a few.
The technology itself keeps getting better too. We've had forks improving the token distribution by changing the way curation works, we've had the introduction of the HBD stabilizer, which significantly improved the ability of the token to hold the peg, bringing it a lot closer to becoming a real stable coin and we have even more things coming in the next fork, such as a change to the haircut rule, which will make Hive even better for those who are a part of it.
Going forward
Hive has quite an impressive past, and I believe its future wont be any different. Many of the current projects and communities will continue to add value to the blockchain and thus grow even stronger. Take LeoFinance; for example, its native token LEO is shaping up to become Hive's connection to all major blockchains in the near future. I firmly believe that blockchain interoperability is the future, so that will be huge for Hive.
There are also some other projects that I believe will be real game-changers. I'm talking about things like SPK Network, Ragnarok, and, of course, Project Blank. And those are only the ones I know. I'm sure many other developers are working on things that are just as exciting that I have no idea about yet. 2022 will be another excellent year for Hive, that is for sure.
Final thoughts
Hive has grown so much since it was born that sometimes it's hard to believe it'd been only two years. It's tough to make predictions in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment such as the world of blockchain and crypto, but all the things I've seen so far make me sure that Hive will continue to thrive, no matter what.
