This is a #threadcast for my ongoing D&D session. Join and follow the adventure!

Also, feel free to discuss anything D&D related, whether or not it has anything to do with the adventure

Sort:

my party would regularly get completely wasted at the tavern and start bar brawls

Are you talking about the game or just a regular Saturday night for you?

haha yea thas always nice

this party is mostly well behaved so that doesnt happen very often

And this is a character sheet. It has all sorts of information of my character and some shortcuts to perform actions such as attacking, casting spells and what not

For just one character, the wealth of details and information is incredible.

#hivebr

Damn do I have to take a course to play this game.

Seems like a lifetime of learning.

haha it feels like a lot but it's easier than it looks

but yea, takes some time

It looks freaking hard.

Especially since the rules are in your imagination. How the hell does everyone interact when trying to read the minds of others?

I agree, even for me, I enjoy this type of game, but I would need a lot of time and dedication to really understand it and play it.

I think this is more complicated than baseball rules. LOL

#hivebr

Give it a little time, I trust you, you will do better

For those who were wondering, this is what it looks like from the point of view of a player. In this case we were just chilling in a Tavern but usually there are enemies on the map when we are fighting

What does it look like in person? Was there a board for this or just using paper drawings?

Depends on how fancy you wanna get haha

Some people buy very intricate boards with all sorts of different landscape options but, at the very least, it's good to have a grid board (it's important to have some measurement of distance) even if it's a blank one just to position players and enemies in combat situations

A lot takes place in people's imaginations

Like those who dropped too much acid in college.

I imagine there is a strong correlation between stoners and d&d players LOL

LOL well that is a good thing to recongize.

There seems to be a correlation between drunks and beer pong.

Sounds like a perfect game for those who hallucinate.

so jelly! we finished our 3 year long Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign not long ago & are trying to decide what to start next. my brother said there's some space cowboy shit that we might try.

wow 3 year, nice! finishing a campaign is a bittersweet moment for sure! hope you guys get on it with the new one soon

yeah we actually used a scroll of Summon Tarrasque in the final battle with Vecna thinking that we could get the Terrasque to hurt him... but little did we know he was immune to physical damage... so then we had to deal with both Vecna and the Terrasuq.

we ended up obliterating Vecna and my warlock cast Wish to banish the Terrasque to another plane. was very epic.

hahah that was quite the plot twist! good thing you guys could handle it!

it was a not very well though out plan lol

haha sometimes you just gotta leroy jenkins it

THUMBS UP GUYS LET' S DO THIS

LEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYY

Can you talk the other players into commenting on here also?

It would be a good idea to convince them to create an account on Hive so they can also contribute to their game activities.

Without a doubt, D&D is a theme that can bring a lot of content here.

#hivebr

It is something that I dont know a great deal about but you do. But having a few players posting as they are engaging would really alter things in my opinion.

Yes, there would be a lot more activities here and this niche has a very large audience.

#hivebr

That is true. Niche also has a great deal of loyalty.

When the movies get going with the tag up top, we can see that threadcast taking off.

Ohh that would be nice! None of them are on Hive but I will try to getn them in

Lets get a track record for the threadcast and get some things flowing so that we can get them interested.

Tell them it is like a live chat during the game.

It would be a good idea to convince them to create an account on Hive so they can also contribute to their game activities.

Last session ended after a big combat from which we emerged mostly unscathed

We managed to rescue a baby but unfortunately we found out that the parents were murdered so we got to decide what to do with the baby now

adoptI will to care for the baby, lol

We arrived on a town that apparently is very famous for its souvenir shop. Let's see what they have in stock

#hivebr #dnd #rpg

The shop sells "lucky stones", which allow once a day for one die to be re-rolled but there is a 30% chance they will lose their magic upon each use

I'm passing on the stone... not worth it for me... they cost 50 gold pieces by the way

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

They are also selling magic hats for 30 gold pieces.... one thing we learned is that not everything that the shopkeeper claims to be magical is actually that

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

Ok so we are planning to leave the baby in a church so the people there can look after her. We cannot be taking a baby to the places we are going

#rpg #hivebr #dnd

We found a boat that took us down the river. THe captain is going to tell us the tale of Rineheart and the Evil Wizard

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

The tale mentions some octupss-headed monster that are imune to poison, disease and magic. I can't help but think this was a spoiler of some of the stuff we will be facing ahead

#hivebr #dnd #rpg

The tale also mentions a golden blade. My Paladin could use that for sure!

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

We arrived on the town of Flethrun. Apparently we are famous here because of previous adventures.

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

We had free food and lodgings waiting for us. It's nice to be the hero sometimes

#rpg #hivebr #dnd

I love seeing this one back. A great addition.

Is this something you basically do weekly?

Thanks! I'm having fun doing these

And yea, unless something happens, we do it every saturday

#rpg #dnd #hivebr

Excellent. It was great last week. I think you topped 100 comments for the threadcast.

The townsfolk are asking ots of questions to the group. Feels like we are in a press conference lol

#hivebr #dnd

Opa! Vou aguardar as imagens de hoje. Não esqueça mano.

#hivebr

Ibagens eu quero ibagens.

#hivebr

We stopped by the adventuirer's guild to do some shopping before the next leg of the adventure. I got a rinf of protection and a couple of potions

#hivebr #dnd #rpg

We have entered the dangerous Fleet Forest. We feel like we are being watched but nothing tried to stop us yet

We found a huge camp of Orcs and some skeletons. They might be headed to the same place we are.... things could get ugly

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

We came across a very odd item. It's literally called purple banana of death....
It's a banana that we must eat at the start of the combat and it will have a devastating effect on one random enemy LOL

Our DM is crazy sometimes

#hivebr #dnd #rpg

Our wizard is eating the banana LOL

It takes two rounds to eat it completely and then we will see what happens

How does combat work on D&D?

Let's take a look at a simple melee attack.

Basically, there is an atribute called Armor Class (or AC for short). There are many factors that contribute to AC but, for simplicity sake, let's just say it's based off the quality of armour a character is wearing.

To perform an attack, a D20 (a die with 20 sides) is rolled. That's what is called an attack roll.

There are bonuses that are added after the dice roll. Again, for simplicity sake, let's just say that it depends on how good is the attacker's weapon.

Then, the two values are compared. If the attack roll is equal to or greater than the target's Armor Class, the attack was succesful and another roll (a damage roll) is made. We weill discuss damage rolls in a future ocasion.

If the attack roll is lesser than the target's AC, then the attack fails and nothing happens (no damage).

One example of an attack:

Let's say I'm trying to attack a target that has an Armor Class of 18.

I roll my D20 and get a 14. However, because of the weapon I'm holding and some other atributes of my character, I have an attack bonus of 5 which means I add that number to the 14 that I rolled.

That gives my attack roll a total of 19, which is greater than my target's AC of 18. That means my attack was succesfull and now I get to roll the damage my attack will deal!

The fight begun. We are very much outnumbered but we ambushed the enemy, meaning we get to attack and they won't be able to react until the second round of combat. We can do a lot of damage in one round

#hivebr #dnd #rpg

I moved forward but couldn't get close enough to hack at the orc with my mighty sword so I summoned the powers of the Dragon god I worship and produced a flame that hit and burnt the orc a bit

#hivebr #rpg #dnd

Our battle strategy seems to be paying off. We are in a good position, despite being outnumbered at the start of the combat

At the very first start of the battle I decided to spend one of my spells slots to cast Shield of Faith on myself to increase my Armor Class by 2 points.

I was just attacked by a Shaman and the roll was 23, which is exactly my regular AC. Had I not casted Shield of Faith before, this attack would have damaged me but because I thought ahead, I saved myself of a potentially bad situation here

Aaand that's a wrap for this session!

We are in the middle of combat. I am facing 3 enemies and there are many more to fight! I do have a plan for my next move but unfortunately that will have to wait until next Saturday!
