Most people just use exchanges or P2P trades to cash out their HBD. A member of our community is actually working on automating a system to do that through Hive but I'm not sure whether he wants to open it to the public just yet.
As for Gift Cards, we do have them but their use is not as widespread in Brazil. Not sure about the rest of South America
