It is been a while since I have written a post, 9 months apparently lol, but I am on a 8 hour train ride in Sweden and I found some time to write about something I have become quite passionate about these past few weeks. Serfdom & Sorcery, a discord game on Hive made by Royal Reptile Studios. Yes, you read it correctly, a discord game. How much fun can that be you ask? Well, it has been quite a lot of fun for me. Let me explain why.
To start off this is probably the nerdiest game I have ever played, but in a way that is also what's incredibly charming about it, add the fact that the game evolves around NFTs and has its own currency that can be traded on Hive-engine and you might see why it got my interest. You play it by typing in commands in Discord, like !attack, !mine, etc... There are no visuals (yet). The game itself is about combatting monsters and they leave loot (DBLN) behind when you defeat them, enabling you to level up your character and fight more difficult monsters (which leave more loot behind) besides. This is the main gaming element at the moment. However, there are a lot of other things you can do in the game, like mining, scouting, stealing, attacking with a balrog, etc...
If you click on the link below, you can find a great summary of all the commands the game currently has (keep in mind, this is a fast developing game, so lots of commands are constantly added and might not been added to this wiki, check the discord for most revent updates).
Now, the reason I even know of the existence of this game, is because I invested in PsyberX a long time ago. Somewhere in April this year they dropped some DBLN, which is the S&S game currency, into my hive wallet. At first I thought, omg another sh***y useless airdrop into my wallet, but I decided to look into it after a while, because, you know, well, I am curious.
Anyway, I looked at the dedicated discord channel in the PsyberX discord and found out quite some people were typing game commands. Thought to myself, let's give it a try. I was confused at first and did not really know where to start, but the community was very helpful and answered any questions I had. So, I connected my hive account to the game and off I was.
So far for my personal journey into this game. Now let's talk about what might be exciting for you. First of all we are in the alpha stage, meaning it is very early. To start it is free to play, however you will move up faster if you buy some DBLN on Leodex, Tribaldex or Hive-engine, because you can use it to upgrade your attack and defend stats faster AND you can buy in-game stuff that lets you build your own empire in the game; bestiaries, castles, citadels and lots of more buildings to come. Each one of these buildings will give you creatures that will help you on your journey in the S&S universe.
At the moment you can buy farms for 100K DBLN, which will give you a daily return; 1000 DBLN. If you buy 40, you can combine them into a Citadel, which will give you protection and specials quests. The reason I am mentioning this, is because these are limited NFTs that will not be available for long and are worth it, if you are interested in the game longterm.
The biggest reason why I am excited about this game, is that is has a cross community design, which is super powerful for any project and it is already succeeding in doing so. Let me explain, the game can be implemented in any discord server, meaning that you can play it in the discord server where you feel most at home (if the community of that server has decided to implement it), if it has not, you could even talk to your server leaders and ask to implement it or you can simply play it in the PsyberX server. Since there are so many discord communities out there, the potential is unlimited. Imagine if one day a huge server decides to implement it! This, to be frankly is not a big ask for a community and gives it the potential of driving more people and activity to their discords.

- Added to Koinos discord, a blockchain specifically designed for gaming. And to KoinDX, where you will be able to swap KOIN to get DBLN in the near future.
- Every second of the day someone types a command into a discord server related to the game.
- The game has been deployed in 20 discord servers. And was added to two servers while I was writing this article.

PS: couple of pro tips to start, buy ravens when you can, they get potions to heal you and get your axe to mine DBLN, you can mine every 5 minutes, also if per 300k DBLN you stake, you get 5 huge potions each day, very useful at the higher levels
