I have a job screening interview in a while. I'm not looking for a job. But I am entertaining offers. Supposedly, they are looking for people with my skills. It would have to be a good offer to leave a gov job in a down market.

Yes. The bull trap of public jobs :D Make sure the Money is not the only deciding offer.
If there's travel involved, that would also help sway me.
Oh, you like to travel? International travel or local?
I enjoy both for the experience of seeing new things. I am limited to local at the moment as a result of my job. But, Mrs and I plan on doing some international in the coming years.

I was in a job where I got the opportunity to travel internationally. It has its pros and cons. I enjoy traveling but with the kid - it is not as easy as before.
Best wishes for you!
When you're in a position to essentially interview the company, you know you're doing well :)
That's a good way of seeing it. I'll keep it in mind next time a recruiter calls me up.
Hopefully they make you an amazing offer
It would have been a good job doing IT facility buildouts with 20-30% travel. Mostly remote work. But, it's contract work.
I take it you're not a fan of contract work? I'm not either.
I can't risk it at the moment. Maybe next year.
