This is something fun I got today!
There was this fella on local Facebook ads selling his collection of minerals and stones and shit for 2$ a pop.
Nothing special, regular stuff like amethyst, pyrite and other things you have probably heard. But there was one stone that caught my interest called Galena!
It seemed somewhat shiny and cool and I had never heard of it so I told him I want it.
I went to his place, paid and now a few hours later I am the proud owner of this cool little stone:
Taking a proper photo of the mineral proved to be a hard task and I to be fair I totally failed.
It's much more intriguing from up close. Somewhat black with silver and blue shines coming here and there depending on the angle and the light. It's really cool from up close!
And in case you wonder what the fuck Galena actually is, here's the answer:
Galena, also called lead glance, is the natural mineral form of lead(II) sulfide (PbS). It is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver
Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfide minerals. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms. It is often associated with the minerals sphalerite, calcite and fluorite. source
I guess the silver sparkles coming out of it are literal silver!
Unlike that big ass pyrite stone I have that may shine silver but it's nothing but fool's silver
Tldr, another silly treasure for the collection 😁

What an awesome find, and for an amazing price! 💜
Yeah, these stones are always overpriced on stores and stuff usually like 5$ a piece or something. Real price those is actually like 5$ a ton of something 🙃😂

I was expecting to see more Cube Shapes, which did show up on the last couple of pictures... It makes me wonder what I was seeing on the first group of pictures...
The first is the Galena or at least it's what I was sold lol. It does have cubes but they are pretty small, not visible on the pics 😅
Where there's shiny, you will find silver. Would be tough finding a capsule to fit this one.

Never heard of that galena either, looks like some vulcan stuff
What a great treasure, I didn't know that this mineral was the famous Galena.I had seen it in images but ignored his name. It's lovely. Thanks for sharing
Pretty cool! I don't think I've ever found one of those before. Then again I haven't been looking for silver mines... That's a nice specimen, some lead and silver mixed together!

The first radios were made with galena. The crystal was the demodulator, making it possible to listen to a radio with a sensitive headset, and no need for power - neither from batteries nor from a plug.

i didn't realise there was fools silver, i know of fools
The galena stone looks like little shiny stars in them and some kinda little fluffy smoke coming out from it, the bought was worth it. I prefer it though to the pyrite stone
