Took some profits today from a coin I had invested a long time ago, felt like powering some hive with them.
Dunno, probably an idiotic move as this place feels more and more hopeless these days, largely due to whales throwing money to non sensical stuff through the dhf. All that money wasted and not even one decent exchange listing to show for all these years.
Heck, we even have a witness in the top-20 dumping every last hive for years now and diverting those money to eth. And he fucking advertises it lol.
And our market cap position keeps going down. I wonder why
Having said that, this place has been a blessing for me in countless ways and I did dump a few thousands hbd this year and I wanted to come even, more or less.
I placed 2k in the pwr/hive pool by @empoderat. Great project, great Apr, great liquidity. Check it out, it's probably the best place to park your hive for a juicy 20 Apr % and you essentially stay liquid 24/7.
I also powered up 8k hive. Nothing crazy but a decent amount I guess for a pleb like me. And I also kept some liquid in case we get a crazy pump or whatever.

Nice powerup. I think there is a lot of discussion over how the funds in the DHF are distributed and people are blaming it there for the market cap of Hive. I do think Hive is a great place and that is a lot of hive you powered up.
I hope I'm not voting for that witness. Admittedly, many of my witness votes are blind votes.

Those reasons stated about hive show exactly why it's a very centralized blockchain no matter how much a few people want to preach that it's decentralized. There's not a thing decentralized about it lol

I've gone through articles people complaining about DHF funding and it's surprising that whales are not talking about it.
You mean active witness has been dumping hive? If so then it's really bad because they're supposed to set-up an example so that others follow them. I will try to go through the project you mentioned and figure out more about it.

Like you mentioned, I have also converted some coins to hive and planning to do even more with hope that hive will do better.

I honestly think a huge factor is that we just didnโt pick a unique name or spelling, making it hard to find, and weโve done crap for marketing.
Then when we lost the attention after the initial fork, people blamed the lack of price action as the cause of the issue, rather than the result of our collective inaction, or ineffective action.
Personally I think we also need to find ways to get the good layer 2 Hive tokens to get listed on more exchanges, just like all the eth alt coins and every other chain has.

I think that as more and more of us become orcas we'll be able to counter these idiotic DHF leaks. In fact, I bet we can fund a proposal to burn DHF funds and cut down on mindless spending, we can vote out shitty witnesses, etc.

Congrats on your powerup! Based on @sm-silva's comment and your downvotes, Iโm guessing youโre referring to me. Itโs okay if you donโt like me, but Iโd like to clear up some misconceptions since what youโve shared isnโt entirely accurate.
First off, itโs true that Iโm selling Hive โ but not for the reasons youโre suggesting. The reality is simple: I need to provide for my family, keep a roof over our heads, and continue working on projects that matter to me and other. If I could afford to keep all my Hive staked, I absolutely would. Thatโs just not my situation right now, and I wonโt sugarcoat it. If this is a dealbreaker for your vote, I understand and respect that.
Regarding the claim that Iโm diverting funds to ETH โ thatโs not true. I started using EVM smart contracts for my game because it was the best technical choice for creating a fully onchain game without having to rely on Hive Engine, which quite frankly has it's own flaws, or building my own validator system from the ground up. Iโve been keeping a close eye on the work Blocktrades and his team are doing, as well as developments with VSC, but neither was production-ready when I had to make the decision months ago.
Hive has always been important to me. Over the years, Iโve seen over and over again Hiveโs greatest strength: its community. Itโs ironic that many memecoins rely almost entirely on their communities, though assembled by greed, yet Hive has so much more to offer and still sits at a fraction of some of their market caps.
After 7 years on Hive, Iโve learned a lot. My vision is to help bring Hive out of its bubble, but that wonโt happen if we stay in an echo chamber or keep doing the same things. Iโve tried focusing exclusively on Hive before, but that just didn't work out. This time, I'm learning into Hive's strength and combining them with innovations & strengths from other platforms where they make sense. I believe this approach can bring more people to Hive, especially with the lite accounts being developed by Blocktrades and his team, than me just focusing on Hive-exclusive projects.
That said, I understand your frustration with the price and how, without full context, my actions might be interpreted differently. I hope this explanation helps clarify the situation and shows that my commitment to Hive remains strong.
