The 10 Million Dollar Coin

in LeoFinance2 years ago

I was doing some reading today about US constitutional silver, checking things to buy, prices etc etc and came across something really interesting that blew my mind.

Ever wondered what's the most expensive U.S coin?

The answer is the The Flowing Hair dollar, which also was the first dollar coin to be issued by the United States federal government.

Here's how it looks like

Not much of a beauty if you ask me but I guess you have to start from somewhere 😂 Poor ol lady liberty looks more like those weight lifting trans athletes with that chunky neck and chin. 😂 And that eagle hasn't had a proper meal for a while 😅

Only 1,758 pieces where minted back in 1794 so as expected this is a pretty rare find these days, especially in good quality.

To give you an idea, the finest specimen known as of today was sold in 2013 at auction for wife changing money. Ten fucking million dollars..Well $10,016,875 to be more exact, which is the highest selling point for any coin ever. Before that, the same piece was sold for 8 millions.

It is estimated that today only 120-130 flowing hair dollars exist, so they are quite expensive regardless of quality.

So yeah, 10 millions for 26.96 g of 0.900 silver. Not bad. Not bad at all 😂

Definitely not a coin for the collection of a pleb like me. I'll just stick with the regular silver coins I get from Facebook market 😅

Feel free to visit wikipedia if my post peaked your curiosity and you want to learn more about this piece!

The eagle was vegan and liberty definitely trans... For a moment, before getting into the post I really thought it was another coin of yours and you're bragging about it. That's when it went through my mind that kidnapping you would be a good idea...

Lmao, I wish 😂 I'd probably be a billionaire if I could afford this

That price obviously comes from the level of rarity of the coin, it has a lot of value at the collector level because it is a piece that has a higher historical value than normal. Still, it's not for the average collector, but for eccentric super-rich who can spend ridiculous amounts of money for so few grams of silver (obviously, it's not paying for the weight value of the silver, but for the historical significance of the piece, as we already know).

Yeah it's a bit over the spot price, that's for sure 😂

😜😎🤙 is that Fabio on there? and how about the eagle/turkey?? :P

I would gladly take those coins tho, if given..

Yeah, looks more like a turkey 😂😂😂

😉😂🤣

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Indeed interesting. Thanks for sharing this info.

Learning something new, as usual with your posts. Amazing how "collectible value" can be so subjective. Greetings

Regardless of whether it wasn't much of a beauty, scarcity means owning one of these is now valuable. Hahaha.

Funny how some people can throw so much on something so little 😂

The FOMO on things like this can be real 😂😂😂

Nah, I don't unfortunately 😂

Yeah, you wish 😂

10 million... wow. Not the most attractive coin, but when we are talking collectables I guess beauty take a backseat to value. Interesting history to this one. I wasn't aware of it before now.

I’ve never seen a 1794 Flowing Hair coin in person, but I’ve seen a few at auctions before. It’s interesting how these coins were made by hand presses.
Yeah not much of a looker that Lady Liberty.

Would you bang?

Maybe Silvertowne mint could make a generic re-strike of this coin so everyone could have their own 1794 Dollar. I believe that they are open for design suggestions from the public.

If you turn the coin a bit taper, you will see Liberty as a perfect women, the engraver has just added some extra silver on her neck because he was not told the sex of Liberty lady. Now, imagine 😎😉

Would bang regardless

ah, gross 😣

These One Hundred Cents, One Dollar or Unit Coins played a part in our "Big Mistake"... Their Face Values which were on the Edge of the Coins, were "SET TOO LOW"...

Can you elaborate?

We the People were given some very Bad Advice, probably from Agents of the Central Bank Owners... We ended up setting the face values of our Coinage too low... Think about when we only had Nickels and Pennies to "make change" for our Silver and Gold Coins... I solved the U.S. Monetary Puzzle and very few people in the Silver Gold Stacking Community seem interested...

She may not be as pretty as later liberty, but that scarcity makes all the difference! 10 million worth of scarcity!

Thanks a lot for sharing such great information with us, I had never heard of this coin before today. It's something very unique and I think most of us will have seen it for the first time and learned about it for the first time And as for its price, it is more than we thought.

Way, way more 😂

A simple yet great coin!

For a coin that has been around for over 200 years old, I think it's in decent shape. It's too expensive for my taste.

Maybe I'll get it for the lulz when I am a billionaire!

The coin looks pretty old but still nice, is just that I was confused if it was a lady or a man that was in the coin.

I was thinking it was your type. At least the coin shall be.
