I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago how metal detecting has been one of the favorite new activities with the kids.
And by favorite, I mean they get super excited and after about an hour they get bored and want to do something else 😂
We haven't found anything super exciting yet but hearing that magic beep and then digging the ground is really fun. Honestly, I could do it all day long 😂
Here are all the treasures we unearthed today:
Let's take a closer look:
First, nails. Lots and lots of old rusty nails. Big, small, medium. We have everything!
And then the "highlights" of the day:
So first we got an empty bullet. Kiddo got super excited with this one, heh. Silly kids ^_^
It's super old and crumbling to the touch. It was probably there for at least 30-40 years.
Then we got a coin. Nothing super old or rare. Just a 1 euro piece. I'll clean it and buy the kids some candy. Win!
And then a small metal sphere. No idea what it might be 🫠
And that's what an hour of metal detecting with a shitty detector gets you. Lots of crap and lots of fun. If you looking for something new to try it's highly recommend 😊

Kind of looks like a lead ball from a musket. I know the feeling, finding a bunch of garbage is the norm when detecting. But every now and again you find something really cool!

Lead ball wouldn't be magnetic, though, would it? I thought so too. Maybe steel shot?
I've found musket balls before while detecting. Lead picks up one detectors nicely!
I'll give it a good cleaning tomorrow and inspect it more !

I have a Barrett 400i, it is fun for my kids at the beach finding lots of loose change, bottle caps, old rusty nails, gum wrappers, house keys, even a buried lawn chair. I hypothesized that 300 years ago the local aboriginals already made use of lawn chairs and stubby beer bottles well before Captain Cook surveyed this region. Who knew? I also found a working cell phone.
A working cell phone? Damn, lol. 😅😂

You're making their childhood fun to remember haha. Even if it's mostly rusty nails, the excitement of the beep is what counts. That 1 euro coin was basically a jackpot, probably an instant candy fund for them.
Yeah all change go for candy 😂😂😂
hahahahahahahaha

Arthritis?
Excellent entertainment, detecting metals, discovering what the earth hides. 👏👏👏
Yep, it's really fun :D
I'm a coin collector, all I need is a detector to go to the beach 😂
I haven't tried using a detector before, but at least you had fun and you made some money from doing so. Then again, one euro will only go so far but its a treat for the kid.
It's a really fun hobby. I have found plenty of change btw, every day is pretty random in findings!
lmao this is so true with every game

😅😅😅😅
They might actually look rusty but not completely useless as with the proper way can still be shiny or converted to something useful.
Cheers
I throw the nails in a bucket for now, maybe try to sell for scrap 😂
that's an excellent entertainment
keep it up
Kids love it! And so do I 😂

even if the treasures are a bit rusty! It's great to see you making memories with the kids, and who knows what you’ll uncover next time? The excitement is what truly makes it worthwhile!
Sounds like a blast taking the kids treasure hunting. Bet they were stoked finding stuff with that metal detector. Cool way to spend a day!
