If the people in charge were not disgustingly greedy, it would be. I think some people are meant to lead the changes and others to just live their lives. But since apparently the people at the top don't like when the rest of the world is happy, it's not as optimistic... maybe for some lucky ones, but a lot of societies will be further pushed down to sustain the ones that will benefit from it.

They are tho haha, a lot of people have that follower mindset. If it were up to the majority nothing would get done.
The type of leadership is what shapes the society. Some are "do what I say or else" other let the masses have a voice and opinion, but ultimately those masses have opinions on what a few propose, the ideas don't come from the masses.
A few leaders arise from the masses, this train of thought is not dividing people on wealthy and poor but leader mindset, innovation mindset, and the followers mindset.
Also leaders can be many people, not 20 for all the world.
