PolloPollo is an Obyte project run by Casper Niebe to:
Facilitate charitable donations being used as the donor intended, initially in Venezuela. Showcase the use of standard Obyte tools to do this.
Basic principles
As part of the effort to go mainstream, Casper was required to provide a somewhat in-depth description of how PolloPollo works to the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, so he wrote a rather extensive document for them. A translation of this appears as a 23 Feb 2020 Medium article, which goes into all the details about how the PolloPollo platform works, why it is possible for one entity to set up a shared wallet between other entities without having access to funds on it itself. It also outlines the basic features of Obyte that are being used, so hopefully it can also serve as inspiration to others wanting to get starting developing applications on Obyte

Obyte, formerly Byteball, now listed on CoinMarketCa as simply Obyte, is a DAG-based cryptocurrency developed by Anton (Tony) Churyumov.

The goal of PolloPollo is to introduce trust in a setting where trust wouldn’t be possible. By use of distributed ledger technology (often called blockchain) people won’t have to trust each other - they only have to trust the protocol of the open platform.
PolloPollo is an open, free to use and fully transparent platform allowing donations of specific products to specific receivers. It can best be explained as a stranger standing at the checkout counter, paying for the products in the customer’s shopping basket. The customer receives the products without having to pay for it. The merchant receives payment for the products and the donor will know that he helped someone in need, get the bare necessities to make life slightly better - perhaps even possible.
The true power of this radical different approach to charitable donation rests on the power of the people. We therefore ask you to help bring merchants to the platform and to let people in need know of the opportunity to request donations for products on the platform. Donors are of course also welcome, but we mainly need people interested in helping this non-profit project reach its true potential - to help people in difficult situations.

Now there are outstanding numbers for donations carried out on PolloPollo.org. An incredible week with more than 100 completed donations and with a bunch of pictures from one of the merchants providing the physical products that applicants apply for. We are working to get a couple of video statements and interviews directly from those who benefit from the generous donations that donors make on the platform.
