I have a car, but gasoline in Brazil is expensive, even though my car is economical.
With the car it takes between 40 minutes and 1 hour, by bus 1 hour and 30 minutes.
With the car I spend 22 BRL to go and come back, by bus 12 BRL.

It's the price of convenience. In the US, I am just so used to driving and most people here also do that. I don't know many people that use the bus outside of the bigger cities.
