I rented a place close to work and far from college, but last year the work went back to being a home office...
If I had known this was going to happen I would have rented a house close to the college that was in a cheaper neighborhood.*

Will you consider renting in the college neighborhood rather than renewing your rent? It may likely be expensive renting again, based on the initial cost of rent, but I think it will be better.

At the end of November, the lease ends and graduation ends. Then I'll go back to my hometown of 70,000 population. Everything much closer.
Okay, so that is 6 months... wow!
That will be a stressful period for you, but I'm sure you'll pull through.
