1/🧵Almost all of you are going to spend 39% more effort than me with your keyboards. All I have to pay for this improved life is a month of bumbling around till the muscle memory start doing its job!

Always been fascinated by the alternative keyboards but never had the patience to really try them.

Getting started is difficult, but it gets better after a week of daily driving a Colemak. Several key positions remain unchained. Practice on https://www.colemak.academy everyday for 10 minutes. Take it slow and after few weeks, you will feel a lot more comfortable with Colemak. Best of Luck!

2/🧵These are some basic points summarized by Leo AI

  • The QWERTY keyboard design is outdated and can negatively impact comfort and efficiency due to its origins in 19th-century technology.
  • Alternative layouts, such as Colemak-DH, require less effort and can significantly improve typing experience.
  • These alternatives are often preferred by those who spend a lot of time typing, as they provide daily benefits.
  • A comparison of different layouts, including QWERTY, can be found on websites like ColemakMods.
  • Switching to a new layout, like Colemak, can be easier than switching to Dvorak, and provides a substantial improvement over QWERTY.

3/🧵I am barely starting out and I already see some improvement. For now, it could be the slow typing helping out with the comfort level. By the end of the month I should be able to make a more concrete conclusion.
