Missed the AMA yesterday with the launch of the feature for Creator Subscriptions. When I checked back in to inleo 1 hour ago, I saw on my feed a thread from khal saying he will launch in 12 hours(6 hours from this post) because there is a little bit of delay due to the amount of new pages that needed to be updated there is a higher potential for bugs to show up.

I have to say I wanted it to be released by the end of the year, I thought it would be a good end for 2024 and I was happily surprised to see that actually it is already done and on the verge of being released today. For me the team does know how to deliver software and fast. This creates a lot of confidence in the team's ability to do their best to get the ecosystem going. I believe they are creating huge amount of value for this chain, we just need the growth in users to continuing growing the flywheel effect and get some momentum going. Lots of indicators are in the green, we still need to push the premium numbers a bit to reach the 1000 core fans.

My take on it

I can see the potential of such a feature because it does allow any account on Hive(apparently your will need a inleo premium account as well to claim the rewards) to accept a form of payment for producing personal content or a service that could be funded by HBD. The fact that this is a stable currency make it easier to have a viable cashflow for side hustle or business on chain.

Creator subscription are going to be more more accessible then creating a proposals or get into the top 21 witnesses, it does allow for smaller case business creation or medium size content creators that can't make enough from legacy social media. This creates a way also for people to spend their crypto to support creators by converting from the likes of BTC or Maya to the Hive/Leo ecosystem using Leodex for exemple.

The creator then can choose to convert what they make from HBD to $LEO or $HIVE if they choose to invest back into crypto or keep in stablecoins and build a nest egg accumulating interests.

I am considering doing a creator subscription for me to help finance some dev time to create mini apps/tools on Hive, I started doing one app with https://hivekpi.com/ and slowly building it, I am leaving a space to create a third app. I want to try and find a way to give people that would subscribe a way to decide what I build next. I don't know how this will be taking form, I still need to imagine something, maybe giving access to a private trello where you can create a feature requests that I can choose from and develop.

It kind of tick when I listened to khal introducing the potential of the feature, I saw that this could create a possibility to do service on demand for subscribers, maybe each would get a few hours equivalent of dev time to create what to want.

It will be an experiment

I don't want it to be too much hassle on me and keeping a lot of my time to do things the way I want is important but at the same time I think it is nice to offer a service that I want to offer to people on chain that are willing to support my efforts on Hive for whatever reason.

I like trying new features on inleo that the teams builds, I feel like we are going in the right direction and will be ready for the next bull run whenever it comes. One thing we have to remember if you get at least 2 people giving you $5 per month to subscribe to you then it will cover the cost of inleo premium which in turn contribute in supporting the LEO ecosystem.

One of my next article will probably be a screenshot of me setup my subscriber program and I will spend part of the week to get more thought into structuring so I can start get my first few supporters.

I am looking forward to what other will offer in exchange for their subscription, it will be interesting to discover other people in a not yet knowed way, maybe people will offer private content, insight into their life or use it to do graphic works, podcasting, possibilities are endless and I can see how that will create a lot of side hustle on Hive within the coming years. That could turn into another killing feature if the user base and network grows.

I am sure this will release some creative potential and I am looking forward to it.
