Well basically the company behind DeepSeek just did what OpenAI promised before they got greedy.
A good open source AI model will benefit the entire world since every company in every country will now be able to utilize it without the need to give private data away or pay big sums as fees.
I guess this will lead to a lot of innovative small startup companies in the near future.

Why do you think Google Maps which costs Billions is free? Data is gold....
That's what the chinese are after here..
What I mean is that you can run the model on your local hardware without giving away your company's secrets when using it.
Training is another thing.
At least here in Europe the privacy aspect is one of the most concerning aspects of it. In my opinion selling data should be forbidden entirely with only few exceptions.
