The reason I'm posting this on Leo is because evergreen content will not only bring viewers into Leo short term but also long term.
When it comes to the life of your work online you will want it to last as long as you can. Sure there are lots of advantages to writing about pop culture events and it can help to bring in a lot of traffic to your brand. But if you want to make good passive income and have an article that people will be reading years from now (maybe even decades) you will want to write something that is as relevant today as it is in the years to come. And if you can write something that is both popular today and will stay that way for years then you really have a viral hit on your hand.
Defining What An Evergreen Article Is
An evergreen article is an article that is relevant no matter when it is read. This means it is just as useful on the first day it is posted as it 10 years later when someone finds it on their social media feed (if we still have social media by then). This is content that does not care for trend or pop culture. Examples of it can be any how to guide about something that people are still doing. If you write an article about how to garden there is no time limit to the piece. People will always be gardening and your garden tips will always have a place on the net.
There are lots of topics that could be considered evergreen: dating, recipes, writing, exercise and travel just to name a few. There will always be changes in each of these fields and you can never write something that is 100% relevant years later but landmarks in a city don't change that often and neither does good advice on how to kiss

Why You Should Write Them
The biggest advantage of evergreen articles is they can get views for years and years. The internet is a funny place and you never know when someone might come across your article and share it on their feed. Writing about topics that are always of interest will increase the longevity of them and the chances that they can go viral at some point in time.
Now I am not going to say only write evergreen articles. There are a lot of advantages to content that is popular in the moment. Writing about something everyone is talking about can help you to trend or bring attention to your brand. For example writing about current news is content with a shorter shelf life that can bring in a lot of views. Do not get too hung up on having every piece be evergreen as you can miss out on some great stories.
Try To Write Something Both Current And Evergreen
When you are really comfortable with your freelance writing you can try to write pieces that are both current and can have longevity. You could write a piece about action movies and include a review of the summer blockbuster hit. This article could trend for the movie but also be a great piece for anyone looking to read about film in the years to come. Or you could give advice on how to do well in a game that also include tips of how to do well in that game genre as well.
It might take some work but give it a try and see what your results are. If it goes well awesome, and if not, at least you can go back to writing evergreen articles in the topic of your choosing.
Remember there are a lot of topics that are evergreen so keep them in mind when you are ready to write your next article. Do not stress about it too much but keep it is mind as you work.

Hmmm cool concept I have never considered. While I am constantly on the hunt for universal truths or positive life hacks, I guess that could be evergreen.
I try an encapsulate these in my #thoughtfuldailypost entries with my buddy @wesphilbin. I have to figure out how to include more Leo in my blogging habits for sure.

This is how I earn steady cash flow by creating evergreen content on my blog and it just slowly trickles in cash through ads, its a great way to earn a side income and hopefully grow it into a bigger income over time. On LEO having so many authors you can x100 or x1000 the effects can be so widespread
