Well, that's true for all markets (defi and traditional). We're deep in a bear market. It becomes far too easy to buy high and sell low.

Market seasons *bear and bulls, I am well aware of that.

In the first Bull run we hit $5 and change, the second one $8, Third one $3...

Their are good and bad seasons but the trajectory is down.

Hmmm, well Hive is now a separate entity from Steem, so I'm not sure whether we can really establish a genuine trend. In either case, the substantial margin between the highs and lows is something that can be used to our advantage.

You do have a point, but if I move money out of Hive into another down token, when they rise they will both rise, unless one is doing more than the other to grow and create during the bear season.

That's where we honestly can't predict how much one can outgrow the other. My best prediction (and it's a mere prediction): Hive will go up in price over the course of some number of years. 😂

Is there anything other than price which would keep you here, though? I'm personally trying to establish a community that's focused on interaction, compliments, and helping each other, with rewards being a prominent yet secondary factor.

As I said, I've been around since the beginning, I love Hive, the community and the potential.

I've spent hours and hours and weeks and days working nearly full time on trying to build what you are discussing. :) I had some big life changes last year, and I'm not blaming Hive for my lack of optimism and engagement.

As an end user, I had no issue building stake and being friendly and outspoken.

As I now use the product less and feel less emotional about it, I really have a hard time thinking anything new is going to come around and spark major growth. (doesn't mean I'm right) Likely is more about boredom and time. Yes the price will rise and fall during crypto seasons there is no question that is true, but will Hive out perform other projects........ (no one knows, we have to make our best guess)

Don't let me discourage you, I love your thinking, your question and drive for solutions

I see, I hope those life changes were more on the positive side, and if not, then you'll always have the support of people like me over in this little corner of the internet. 😊 I'm probably too new to feel the burnout of a seasoned user!

It's a change from end user thinking to.. Would I invest in this.
