I think the iron bars were put there, perhaps, to make the art itself. It is the art!
I have an entire set of wood carving utensils with which to carve wood. I, too, like to create things. If only for more time.

Not there yet but...it's very tempting. I've played with wood and knives as a kid and I still make the occasional simple thing...that I wouldn't call stake of the art though.
