Bugatti has revealed yet another new variant of its Chiron hypercar today, dubbed the Chiron Pur Sport. Angled as the driver's Chiron, it's been made lighter than the standard car, and given a fixed wing, stickier tires, and closer gear ratios.

According to Bugatti, the Chiron Pur Sport is a full 110 pounds lighter than the normal Chiron. That's thanks to a multitude of smaller weight-saving decisions made throughout the car. The wheels are made from magnesium, and save 35 pounds.
Because there's no active wing, the hydraulics have been deleted, saving 22 pounds. By switching the brake pad base panels to titanium, 4.4 pounds were saved, and lightweight brake discs cut another 2.2 pounds. The exhaust tip is made from 3D-printed titanium, saving even more weight.

Because there's less weight to move around, Bugatti engineers were able to completely rework the suspension for the Pur Sport. The electronic dampers have been retuned, while springs are 65 firmer up front, and 33 percent firmer in the rear. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires feature a new compound that promises 10 percent more lateral acceleration. There's also 2.5 degrees of added negative camber.

Aero has also been extensively updated for the Chiron Pur Sport. In addition to that fixed wing, the front bumper has been redesigned for more downforce. Those new magnesium wheels feature optional aero blades that pull turbulent air out of the wheel well to promote stability and airflow.

Bugatti has increased the redline for its quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine by 200 rpm to 6900 rpm, though output remains the same at 1500 horsepower and 1180 lb-ft of torque. The bigger news is the transmission—it's been given 15-percent closer gear ratios for more explosive acceleration out of corners. Around 80 percent of the components inside the gearbox are all new.

Because of all of these aero and gearbox changes, top speed for the Pur Sport been reduced to "just" 217 mph. Impressive for most cars, but noticeably slower than the normal Chiron's 261-mph top speed.

Bugatti says production of the Chiron Pur Sport will start in the second half of 2020, with a starting price of three million euros (around $3.35 million). A maximum of 60 examples will be built.
