Who would be interested in DIY auto repair content?

in Planetautolast year

I am a guy in my 30's who loves working on cars but is no longer in the industry. I found that working on other peoples stuff was sucking all the joy out of working on my own projects and I found it to be extremely depressing (The work environment was rather toxic as well with older mechanics looking down on the new guys and the just general inability to help eachother). So I have transitioned into a new field which I am loving as well, but that means I will have the time and the energy to work on my own vehicles again! My 1989 Toyota Camry with only 174k KMS (not miles) needs some work and I was thinking of taking videos and pictures of the process of what I do to help others work on their own vehicles and save them money and headaches in the meantime. I would cover everything I am able to do myself (or with help from my friends) and that would include the usual tune ups, brakes, oil changes; But I can also do in depth engine repairs, cooling system repairs, ect. With the help of my friend I could even cover body work stuff too as he is a painter.

First video/pictures/blog would not be here until the spring when I get my car here as I just relocated to be closer to my mothers side of the family some 500 kilometers from my home. Although if the opportunity rises for me to work on other things and write up about it I'll be more than happy to entertain you wonderful people!

I will be upfront and say I do have a Facebook page and a Youtube account that will be dedicated to this content as well, but the Hive network will be getting a more exclusive and in depth approach to my content from me. In my videos you will get quick demonstrations of me doing the work, whereas here I will have pictures of what I am doing, and how/why. I may also look into an AMA kind of thing if this blows up and people want to ask me questions about their vehicles and what I may think on where they should start in their personal quest to get themselves back on the road without blowing a hole in their wallets. In keeping with that train of thought, I have also worked on most everything out there so I do know what to stay away from and what will generally last you the longest time with the least amount of trouble.

I do have favourites, I do have vehicles I despise, but if you ask me point blank what I think about something I will try to be as unbiased and honest as possible. I will tell you the pro's and con's of the particular vehicle you're looking at and what to look out for if you're looking into buying one or have just bought it and are noticing somethings that you're not sure of.

I look forward to engaging with you all and I hope you'll all help me succeed here by following me on my journey!
