What Are The Cheapest Electric Cars For Sale???

in Planetauto4 years ago

As you may know, the future isn't bright for us Petrol/Diesel heads. Governments all over the world are trying to stop the cars we have grown up with, and want us to buy electric cars

Apart from many issues, we have with electric cars, such as

Lack of working charging points
Electric isn't free to use
You are limited with range
The price of batteries are big money
Not safe in a fire

The last does go on, but for me, they are quite expensive to buy, or are they???

Well, let us have a look...

1. G-Wiz / REVAi

These electric cars have been on sale since 2001 up till 2019 and were produced in India. Let us be honest, they are very ugly to look at, and that's an understatement.
The G-Wiz isn't only ugly, but it has a top speed of about 50mph, and a range of 50 miles...
They are very small and are marginally safer than riding a bike. I think Jermary crashed tested one against a table, and the table won...

The cheapest one for sale is a 2005 version with 28,000 miles, up for £1200. It has a set of alloys, and that is about it.

Horrid cars

Renault Fluence

The next choice is a bit more expensive, compared to the G-Wiz, but then again, its like a Rolls Royce compared to that thing. The car is the French Renault Fluence.
The Renault Fluence is also available in both Petrol and Diesel form, but as we are focusing on Electric cars, let's focus on the Z.E version.
The top speed on these is about 86mph while the range is about 99 miles, which is still not great, but ok, if you live close to your work. It is quite a normal-looking car you wouldn't pay attention to it.
The cheapest I have seen is £3800 with 15000, miles on the clock, which I'd personally buy an E90 BMW 3 Series for that much.

Nissan Leaf

This is when Electric cars become a bit more interesting. The Leaf is now on its second generation, but the original version has become an interesting proposition, starting at only £3900. For that, you get a high mileage Leaf from 2011. It should do upto109 miles on a single charge, has a top speed of 86 and 0-60 takes just under 12 seconds.
The range, though not really practical for some, isn't too bad considering that it is more luxurious than the Renault, including a screen, Bluetooth, reverse cameras etc.

Other cheap cars for not much more are:
*Citroen C-Zero

  • Renault Zoe

  • Mitsubishi I-Miev

If I want to get the cheapest BMW Electric car, then I would have to buy an i3 but it would be over double the price lol.

Interesting cars, some of which are just brought to my knowledge... Nissan leaf is just one that was familiar.

You made government look bad, it's for the best anyway, and don't think electric cars are going to eradicate the cars we love dearly, not so soon anyways.

Thanks for sharing.

Hey thank you Boscohage :). I agree that its for the best, as we need to look after our planet :) I would rather have a hybrid thou :) which electric car would you go for. Cheers :)

I've never thought about it... I'd say a Tesla Cybertruck

I like driving electric car's as well as petrol/diesel ones.

I have never driven an electric car before, so I don't have a leg to stand on. I would like to take one out thou. I am sure that I will like it :)
