Well Jamie got one more car repair in on the last day of the year. We had gone up to the back hills of Glen Huon to the most amazing 60 acre block of land overlooking a valley. To the west was southwest wilderness and then the sea to South America, so pretty bloody remote!

We so desperately wanted to get away as life had been a bit hectic - and when I say get away, I mean no people around. Our mates block was just the answer. They actually live over in WA but were back for Christmas and invited us to stay for a few days.

Honestly it was one of the most extraordinary places I'd ever stayed and so peaceful. Kookaburras were the only thing that made a noise and the view was to die for. These photos don't even do it justice!

Their three year old son Henry got a Land Rover for Christmas, or rather, his Dad was given a paddock bomb for free. He absolutely loves trucks, tractors and Land Rovers so it was pretty exciting for him and he was okay with Dad fixing it up to drive wood around and cut supplies up the hill.

As Geoff and Damon do a YouTube channel (Seriesly Series TV) they thought they'd film themselves and Jamie working on starting this old girl. She hadn't been started for decades and was mess of rust and wires, but these guys know what they're doing and two hours later and some serious shaking of the car to move the fuel around, they had it running.

After that we drove up the top of the hill for a bonfire for New Years Eve with a few of their friends over from the mainland. Geoff cooked a proper old school Aussie roast and veggies in two Dutch ovens and we had a few drinks to see in the end of 2024.

For Jamie, it couldn't get much better. Hanging out with mates tinkering with cars is just a dream life for him. Me? I'm happy when he is full of happy - and I love old Land Rovers too.
