It looks like a Jeep Wrangler but make no mistake, this car can also be gassed in water.
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the toughest 4x4 SUV types for off-roading.
But it's a different story if this car is an amphibious vehicle, it can be driven on land and water.
Like this amphibious vehicle called the WaterCar Panther.
At first glance it looks the same as the Jeep Wrangler in general, it looks macho.
The square shape is combined with the fascia in the form of seven vertical air holes typical of Jeep.
On land, the WaterCar Panther is still the same as a normal SUV, but when the wheels are lifted, the underside looks like the hull of a ship.
Regarding specifications, the requirement for an amphibious vehicle to float on the surface of the water is that it has a light weight.
Therefore the chassis is made of a mixture of composite steel with chromium material which produces a weight of only 1,338 kg.
While the hull is made of fiberglass which is filled with a substance called closed-cell styrofoam which functions to balance the vehicle while driving on the water surface.
Quoting from Gtplanet.com, the 3,600 cc Pentastar V6 engine that is the hallmark of the Jeep Wrangler has been revealed to the WaterCar Panther.
Instead, the amphibious vehicle uses a 3,700 cc Honda V6 engine taken from the Acura MDX SUV that produces 305 hp with a maximum torque of 371 Nm.
Oh yes, the gasoline engine is used when the WaterCar Panther is traveling on land, if in the water it is a propulsion engine capable of carrying the vehicle up to a speed of 72 km/hour.
This amphibious vehicle was produced by the WaterCar company from the United States in 2013.
When it first launched, the WaterCar Panther was sold for 158,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 2.3 billion (1 US dollar = Rp. 14,770, as of 22 September 2020).
It's also quite expensive, but it's comparable to its ability as an amphibious vehicle that can travel on land and water.
