Hentai Possess-Her from Greather Games is essentially an infinite runner with a naughty twist. Your sexy succubus friend runs along a course filled with objects to avoid and jump over. The longer you “last” the more your demonic partner will make the girls do. Basically you need to score points in order to score pics. Pretty simple… or is it?
I can’t say I went into this game with high hopes. Whenever I see a game with “hentai” in the title my mind translates it to “cheap cash grab” and typically that will end up being the case. We played Hentai Hack-Her first and were quite surprised by the level of thought that clearly went into that game, so my expectations were somewhat bolstered before we booted up Hentai Possess-Her at least.
Now I’m not a big infinite runner fan, and I haven’t played many myself, let alone adult themed ones. That said, since I haven’t ever seen this style of game anywhere in the NSFW arena before I was interested to see how everything fit together.
In total there were maybe four-ish different objects to jump over regardless of which level you were in. Depending on which one you failed on, the succubus would die in different ways. The backgrounds for each of the stages would have some color swapped objects or various colored skies but again they weren’t terribly different from one another. However, as an infinite runner it did its job just fine. The succubus ran infinitely until you failed a jump and she would fall or die. You’d get shot all the way back to the main menu and have to start again, if you didn’t reach your target score that is. If you did reach the minimum required score then you can just go straight to the gallery to see the pictures you unlocked.
As an adult themed game, I’d say it was also just fine. Good but not great if you will. Each stage had a different girl in some sort of uniform (nurse, police officer, etc.) and as you lasted longer in the runner stage a different still image of them would pop up. The longer you lasted the further the state of undress they would appear in until the final picture where they would pleasure themselves in some manner and that was the end. You can keep running through the stage if you want but no further pictures will appear. Which didn’t exactly motivate you to continue once you hit your goal. That is unless you enjoy chasing the number one spot on the leaderboard.
The clever ideas shown in Hentai Hack-Her simply didn’t reappear in Hentai Possess-Her and that was pretty disappointing to see. The game’s premise wasn’t really explained and just because it’s an adult game I don’t see any reason to not connect the dots in order to make a better player experience. Why these girls? What does the succubus running have to do with affecting the girl’s state of mind? A little bit of context goes a long way.
That being said I do appreciate the dev’s commitment to their games. Just from reading their various update notes they truly seem to take players' criticisms into consideration which is really commendable. Clearly their desire is palpable and they fully intend to keep improving whether it’s within an existing game or perhaps in a new game. The potential is there and I hope to see more from this developer in the future.
