Who doesn't love jumping on a plane for the #weekend?
You get to look out the window and think about life, forget about work for a little bit and appreciate the gift that is the present.
Today's destination: Costa Rica!
It's so refreshing to be out in the countryside for a change. I live in the middle of brick city, so seeing this amount of green sure is nice on the eyes
We're headed to a farm about 60km from Juan Santamaría airport. Farm animals, open fields and delicious food!
We took a very early flight to Costa Rica. @pamarias' family welcomed us with a delicious Costa Rican breakfast. Gallo pinto, salchichón, eggs and dripped coffee, of course:
In Costa Rica, it's known as café chorreado. What you do is you grind the coffee finer than you would for a french press or coffee maker. You put it in this kind of sock (for lack of a better word) and you pour the boiling hot water on top.
The delicious coffee, grown right here in San Jose, CR. comes out the bottom for your drinking pleasure.
My mother in-law also makes some killer cheese tortillas.
After breakfast, we hung out for a bit and waited till about noon. Well... it might have been 11:00 o clock or so. But give me a break, I'm on vacation. it was time for an ice-cold beer (or two). Nothing better to beat the heat!
Man, it's about 30 degrees Celsius (about 89 F). I think it's ok.
Didn't want to spend too much time drinking beer,we've got to get ready for the wedding!
Did I mention there's a lot of green 'round here? Love it.
This is Karol, Pam's childhood friend. Her now husband is Erick, also a childhood friend of Pam's.
It was a small wedding with only close friends and family, and even though the bride was dressed in white, it was only a legal thing signed by a lawyer; no church, no priest or anything like that.
Once at the reception, I took out my Sony a6000 with Sigma 30mm lens. I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I really like playing around with this lens as I think the focal length gets some interesting shots. close-ups mostly.
I think it gets a nice blurry background when you focus on a single subject.
After some photos and some sparklers, we sat down for dinner. Didn't want to be taking pictures while people were eating so I only caught some of dessert
Key lime pie and chocolate mousse
Speeches were given, bouquet were thrown and waltz were danced.
After all the protocol, it was time for the party!
look at my beautiful date making a duck face and busting a move 😄
Haha the bride also loves making duck face.
There was lots of dancing going on! lots of fun. At the end of the night, they had a cool surprise! People in giant costumes came in dancing with a super fun big band playing drums, trombones, tubas...
This is called a Cimarrona and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. It's kind of like a parade mixed with a batucada, super fun and loud :).
We had a really good time at the wedding and got ourselves a designated driver to take us home around midnight.
Now it's time to get some rest because it's Grandpa Gregory's 100th birthday tomorrow! big day!
How's your #weekend going?
All photos in this post are my own. some taken with my Samsung Galaxy S20FE and others with my Sony a6000 with Sigma 30mm lens.
