A Night to Remember: The Bryan Adams Concert

Hi there!

Back in August 2024, while we were sulking around the weekend (we had no plans lined up), little did we know that everything would flip around when we realised that the man, the legend himself, Bryan Adams would be coming to India to promote his new album ‘So Happy It Hurts’.
Knocking ourselves out of our beds, my girlfriend and I booked the tickets, and we got em!
It was official! We are going to see Bryan Adams in flesh and blood!

Bryan did a tour of India with concerts in Kolkata, Shillong, Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Goa. Since we live in the city of Bengaluru, we decided to book it off at the earliest. The concert we decided to attend was on a Saturday -14th December 2024. Since we booked the tickets well in advance, we got the phase 2 access and paid a total of 15,981.88 INR (182.71 USD) for two platinum tickets.

The concert was for 3 hours long including an opening act by a band called ‘Best Kept Secret’.
The venue was in an open arena called Terraform and it took us above an hour to get there.
We reached the location at 4 PM and the entry gates opened after an hour. We went past the security, then browsed through the eateries and drinks at the bar. By the time we got back with our snacks and headed right to the front of the stage, a few tall people ahead of us had gathered there. This turned out to be unfortunate for my short girlfriend since she could not watch the whole concert clearly. The concert arena had a whopping 18,000 people that day!

The concert began with an opening act by the band ‘Best Kept Secret’. The energetic band was hyping the crowd for an hour. They sang a few of their own songs and a few covers of popular ones. The energized band was ready for the legend but due to some technical problems, the show got delayed for an hour. We took that time to get some pictures of ourselves and ignore the fact that our feet were killing us!

Bryan Adams then jumped onto the stage and the crowd went wild. The legend was dressed in all white. Ignoring the fact that he looked like a god sent angel, he did not waste any more time and got right into it.
Since we were almost near the stage, I got a few decent shots of the band with my phone camera. Since any sort of professional cameras were not allowed, I shot all these shots on my iPhone 15.

Although being 65 years old, his energy was that of a teenage boy. The legend sang ’18 till I die’ like he meant it- he sang at the highest pitch, played multiple instruments, danced, goofed around and even jumped on the beat. His energy was just unmatched! Even Keith Scott pitched in with an amazing guitar solo and the crowd just went wild.

With his signature raw voice, he sang various hits like Heaven, Please Forgive Me, It’s only Love, Cloud Number Nine, Summer of ’69, etc. He then sang a few songs from his new album, ‘So Happy It Hurts’. In between songs, he shared his life journey, his early life of fame and how his mother did a cameo in the music video ‘So Happy It Hurts’. He also paid a tribute to Tina Turner who passed away on 24th May 2023.
Here's a full setlist if you’re interested!

As we reached at the end of the concert, we knew that exiting from the venue would be a hassle since the roads leading to the venue were extremely narrow road. We began to move towards the exit while Bryan was singing his final song for the night. This was an advantage since we had just missed being in between a big congestion at the exit.

While I wouldn’t say the management at Terraform was bad, it wasn’t great either. People that left after us were stuck in traffic for quite some time. The delay before the concert too, was making everyone quite restless. Being at the stage area also did not leave much scope for us to grab food, and the snacks that we grabbed at the start were ridiculously overpriced and oddly stale. While the concert management was not great, this was an epic day in my life and seeing the legend that I have admired for years right in front of my eyes, performing live, was a dream come true. It brings a smile to my face each time I pass by the pictures and videos in my gallery.
