South African Potjiekos and Panamanian Church

This weekend, we had a great time with friends and our church.

Recently someone in our community was moving back to South Africa, so they were selling off many of their items. Years ago we had eaten with some South African friends at their house and they had made us some yummy food out of their potjie. A potjie is a South African pot to cook food in (pictured above). Now, we aren't South African, but we really enjoyed this and have been looking for a potjie of our own for a while, so when they came up for sale, we bought them.

So over the weekend we decided to invite some South African friends over to initiate our potjie! My hubs cooked up some yummy beef stew that cooked for 3.5 hours in the potjie. It worked perfectly on our stove, and everyone enjoyed the yummy dinner and fellowship.

At our church service, we learned that 2 people were interested in baptism, so we were able to participate in that as well. The creek is pretty chilly right now, but they hopped in and were baptized by the pastor.

It was so cool to see all of the church people gathered around the creek and this part of the creek used for the glory of our Heavenly Father! It was really a special time, and we were all blessed!

After, we enjoyed a little birthday party and lunch with our church family in the pavilion. I hope you also had a blessed weekend!
