My garden, my paradise (WEEK 174)

"Plant your own garden and decorate your soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers."

-Jorge Luis Borges

I lived in Argentina for forty years, in a big house with a huge garden, as the adjoining land also belonged to the family. The garden is 20 by 50 square metres.

It was cultivated by my maternal great-grandfather, my maternal grandparents, my mother and my brother and me.

There were a lot of vines, long paths with a lot of vines, which gave us grapes all summer long.

There are many fruit trees, lemon, orange, fig, nectarine, apricot, and there were many more, some dried up, others were replaced.

A garden in which every weekend I took care of cutting the grass, so that the place was beautiful to look at, the trees were pruned.

There were many rose bushes, flowering plants, jasmines. Medicinal trees and shrubs. Also shade trees and purely decorative trees such as the ornamental laurel with pink flowers.

In the garden we put a water borehole 18 metres deep, as there was often no water in the city and we had no way to water the garden and no water to drink.

The men who dug the borehole told me that when they excavated it they found quartz remains, so that a river had once flowed through there. What a marvellous thing, isn't it?

On the last weekend of November I used to hold a meeting there for all my computer science students, each one of them brought something with them. I decorated tables in the garden and we had a lovely afternoon.

It took a lot of work to maintain it, but at weekends I spent a lot of time on it. I worked together with my mother and brother. My grandparents were no longer there.

In the old days we used to make wine from the grapes. All homemade. There were walnut trees. It was and still is a paradise.

I had the great teaching of a professional gardener, who taught me how to prune rose bushes, how to make a graft, how to take care of this paradise.

After the work was done, we enjoyed it as a family. It was our precious corner.

Today it is looked after by other people, but I know that it is in good hands and that they love it as much as I loved it and my family.

Now I live in a flat, I have some indoor plants that I take care of, I am grateful to them for giving green colour to my home. They give life.

My future dream is to have a garden again, no matter how big or small, but I dream of a garden with fruit trees, a small vegetable garden. Flowers, many flowers with different colours, scents that fill the senses.

I know that dream is not far away, I feel nature close and I know it will come to me when I least expect it.

They say that if you can imagine something it already exists, it only needs to materialise and I will work on it so that it does.

I imagine having breakfast in the middle of flowers, having picnics in that garden, as I used to do years ago. Having my own little private space where I can enjoy nature in my own home.

And in the evenings, going out into the garden and breathing in the smell of the moon through the trees. It sounds poetic but that smell exists.

Thank you all for reading this far and thank you @galenkp for this topic, I had promised pictures of my garden. I found some by searching a lot. I chose the ones that I thought represented my little paradise that I carry in my heart.

Many greetings to all and see you next time.

Thank you very much Galen!✨

It's yours, so you have to take care of it as it pleases your eyes. What a great place to take a walk especially when you are stressed out.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much! Today I no longer live there but the people who are there take good care of it, someday I will have another one like it, thank you very much for your comment!😀

Would love to be able to own a piece of garden in my backyard someday as well.
Glad you have some photos to keep as memories my friend 😊

And I have more but I have to look for them on the disc I brought with me, I quickly found a few.

If it is a paradise, I know they take care of it and that makes me happy. Thanks to you!❤️

Yeah let nature take its course, it will be well taken care of! 😊

And in the evenings, going out into the garden and breathing in the smell of the moon through the trees. It sounds poetic but that smell exists.

Amé esto.

You're going to have your garden, I know. You already have a beautiful one inside you.

I used to love looking at the moon through the trees in Argentina and there seemed to be a smell of the moon. I'm crazy I know hahaha

Thank you @nanixxx , I know it will be like that I can visualize it.❤️❤️❤️
