Hi guys, did you enjoy the weekend? How was your week? I had a busy week, but a productive one. I’m happy about that. When you work hard to reach a goal and you achieve it, it is very satisfying. This weekend I choose to write about the following topic.
What do you spend far too much time doing, how does it negatively impact your life and what steps could you take to reduce it?
Too much time connected to internet
For most of us, the computer and other devices such as cell phones have become indispensable tools in our daily lives. They’re our working tools but also tools to plan our agenda, tools to communicate, tools to entertain us. Since social networks have existed my connection to the internet has increased at an alarming rate.
If I need to advertise my proofreading services or my writing workshops it is natural for me to use the internet or if I need to communicate with my clients, but now I am constantly receiving notifications from all my social networks or in my email and I realize that I’m spending too much time connected to the internet and that’s not good for me. Are you? Right now I have a bad headache. For almost three hours I have been in front of the computer and at the same time watching movies on TV.
What can I do?
It's good, at least, to realize that what I'm doing is not good for either my physical health or my mental health. But in addition, I think I need to take some actions in this regard. First of all I must cancel the notifications. Hearing the little bell for notifications only, all day long, causes me stress. And then go look at the cause of the notification.
In the other hand, I must regulate the way I use the computer and the Internet. In what way? By measuring the time of use. My sister Margarita says that if I’m working with a computer I must take a ten-minute break every hour and then continue again. Will I be able to? I wish, because this is really affecting my health. Similarly, I need to regulate my social media usage time, I find that they are designed to keep you logged in for hours at a time. Well, That's what I can tell you about the theme chosen for this weekend. I hope you enjoyed the reading.
I’m a spanish speaker but I wrote this post in english because it’s a rule of Weekend Experience Community. When I had a doubt I consulted Deepl.com.
