For a long time I have these crib figures, but a Christmas Crib itself has always been missing.
@galenkp invites us in this Weekend Engagement round to do something creative and document, so it is good that I have finished the crib, or better the small crib cave today.
I think I can not help but be creative. Something always occurs to me that there is to write or paint. Should actually nothing come to mind ;-) then there is always the possibility to click through creativity Youtube videos in search of inspiration. And about just such a video I recently became aware of the topic "paper scooping".
A few weeks ago I dared the first attempt with this method, it actually became paper LOL but not exactly the kind of paper on which you could write.
It wasn't usable, but it was also too good to throw away. And then I suddenly had this flash of inspiration to try and put the paper strips over a bowl, wet them and form a "cave" out of them.
Unfortunately, I had not photographed it at the time, so I started a second piece today to show it. It is not a crib shape, because this I already have now, but it will (hopefully) a small bowl. But the principle is the same as it was for the crib cave, and it goes like this:
Choose a shape. Make paper strips wet and put layer by layer over it. Then press nicely so that the layers connect:
Important: it probably will not work with ordinary paper, but only with the handmade paper. And the whole must dry very long, until the form is stable. As long as it is still wet you can roll up the edges nicely and press them tight.

I already had the unpainted crib in use over Christmas. Since it was a bit too small I had to put it on fir branches.
That was already nice, but clearly lacked there some color and today I finally had time for it:
I first painted the "cave" opaque white on the inside and I wanted the exterior to be a little more natural, so I only applied a little white.
Then painted inside with gold glitter paint, but only so that it still remained bright and white visible.
As a underground I found only this white ribbed sheet of cardboard, anything else would not have matched the white cave. And finished is the little marvel, I'm totally thrilled how beautiful she turned out:

For next year, I plan to build a base for the cave (to make it taller) and also a nice subsurface slab to go with it. And I need an idea for a Star above the Christmas Crib. Comes time comes idea.

Eine kleine Krippen Höhle aus Papier Selbstgemacht
Schon lange habe ich diese Krippen Figuren, aber ein Weihnachtskrippe selbst hat immer gefehlt. Vor ein paar Tagen kam mir die Idee mit Papier eine Art Höhle zu bauen und das Ergebnis, heute fertig gestellt seht ihr hier:
@galenkp lädt uns in dieser Weekend Engagement Runde dazu ein, etwas Kreatives zu tun und zu dokumentieren, da trifft es sich gut, dass ich die Krippe, oder besser die kleine Krippen Höhle, heute fertig gestellt habe.
Ich glaube ich kann gar nicht anders als kreativ zu sein. Irgendetwas fällt mir immer ein, das es zu scheiben, zu malen oder zu basteln gibt.
Sollte mir einmal tatsächlich nichts einfallen ;-) dann gibt es immer noch die Möglichkeit sich durch kreative Youtube Videos auf der Suche nach Inspiration zu klicken. Und über genau so ein Video wurde ich letztens auf das Thema "Papier Schöpfen" aufmerksam.
Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich den ersten Versuch mit dieser Methode gewagt, es wurde tatsächlich Papier daraus LOL aber nicht gerade die Art von Papier, auf der man schreiben konnte.
Es war nicht zu gebrauchen, aber zum wegwerfen auch zu schade. Und dann kam mir plötzlich dieser Geistesblitz, einen Versuch zu starten und die Papier Streifen über eine Schüssel zu legen, nass zu machen und daraus eine "Höhle" zu formen.
Leider hatte ich das damals nicht fotografiert, also habe ich heute um es zu zeigen ein zweites Stück gestartet. Das zweite ist keine Krippenform, weil diese habe ich ja jetzt schon, dafür wird es (hoffentlich) eine kleine Schale. Das Prinzip ist aber dasselbe wie es für die Krippen Höhle war, und das geht so:
Eine Form aussuchen. Papierstreifen nass machen und Schicht für Schicht darüber legen. Dann schön drücken, damit die Schichten sich verbinden:
Wichtig: es geht wahrscheinlich nicht mit normalem Papier, sondern nur mit dem handgeschöpften Papier. Und das ganz muss sehr lange trocknen, bis die Form stabil ist. Solange es noch feucht ist kann man die Ränder schön einrollen und festdrücken.
Hier seht ihr das neue Projekt Schale und die fertige Krippe nebeneinander:
Die unbemalte Krippe hatte ich über Weihnachten schon im Einsatz. Da sie etwas zu klein geraten war musste ich sie auf Tannenzweige stellen.
Das war auch schon nett, aber eindeutig fehlte da noch etwas Farbe und heute hatte ich endlich Zeit dafür:
Die "Höhle" habe ich zuerst innen deckend weiß bemalt und das Äußere wollte ich ein wenig natürlicher haben, daher nur ein wenig Weiß aufgetragen.
Danach innen mit Gold Glitzer Farbe bemalt, aber nur so, dass es immer noch hell und weiß sichtbar blieb.
Als Untergrund habe ich nur dieses weiße gerippte Blatt Karton gefunden, alles andere hätte nicht zu der weißen Höhle gepasst. Und fertig ist das kleine Wunderwerk, ich bin total begeistert, wie schön sie geworden ist:
Ein kleines elektrisches Teelicht hineingestellt und schon glänzt der "goldene Sternenhimmel"
Für das nächste Jahr plane ich für die Höhle einen Sockel (damit sie höher wird) und auch eine schöne Untergrund Platte dazu zu bauen. Und eine Idee für einen Stern brauche ich noch, aber da fällt mir schon noch etwas ein.

Oh, this is so good! YOu made your own artisanal paper, and then you used it to elaborate a cave for the Christmas Crib? Talk about self-sufficience. With such a creative mind and artsy hands, I'm sure you save a lot of money on ornaments and decorations. Kudos to you! I enjoyed this post very much.

Oh my gosh! You MADE paper. Do you have a post on making the paper? I need to investigate. That is awesome! I do like how your cave turned out. It seems like you decoupaged it. I think that is how you spell it. Anyway, it looks great. Perfect timing for making a cave.
Hi ☺ I made no post by now because the paper sheets were my first try to do. Haha I made a lot of mistakes and for sure should not put flowers in the paper at the beginning.

This is amazing, first it started like a paper mache, then from nowhere a beautiful crib cave came up. This is quite creative and other accessories added made it awesome. Well done.
