Good day Hivers! The weather here in the Philippines has been rainy lately, especially in the mornings. It's currently Sunday, and I'm at work.
I wanted to share my Saturday activities with you all. Saturday is my day off, which is usually Sunday. I had to switch it to Saturday because my daughter covers my shift at work, and there aren't many public buses available on Sunday around 5 pm when she's ready to go home.
I began my day yesterday by sweeping the floor in the living room. My son's cousin came over to the house, and I wanted to make sure it was clean before they played.

The electric company staff arrived at our house while the children played in the living room.
Let's take a journey and explore the fascinating story of how electricity makes its way to our homes, powering our lives in countless ways.
In 2020, we started the process of getting electricity for our house, which we bought from my husband's brother. The house was still in its original condition. When BOHECO announced its free installation program called NEHI, we were excited to apply. However, we discovered that we still had to pay for all the necessary paperwork and processing, even though the installation was free. Due to a lack of funds, we had to put the process on hold.
It was a difficult time for us financially; my second child was still a baby, and we needed to buy milk and diapers. My income was the only consistent one we had, and it was a struggle to find extra money to cover the cost of getting our electricity connected.
I received my bonus from my boss last December. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to use the money to pay our electricity bill.
In mid-January, my husband resumed working on the paperwork for our electricity. We had to renew all of the documents from our municipality since they were all expired.
We had to ask our neighbor, who happened to be an authorized Boheco personnel, for help.
The personnel, Herry, assisted us in processing the necessary paperwork.
The fire extinguisher, a requirement by the Bureau of Fire, has already been purchased.
Herry was then advised by a colleague, who had worked at Boheco for a longer period, to submit our paperwork directly to Boheco's main office. They informed Herry that it was unnecessary to submit the paperwork through the Municipal office since the membership we applied for was free under Boheco's NEHI program.
Herry and my husband went to the Boheco main office. They submitted the required paperwork and the staff informed them that they would need to wait for an inspection.

We had to pay for the installation and other taxes.
The final inspection was approved last Thursday. When I asked Herry about the wait time for electricity installation, he estimated one to two weeks. My husband and I were thrilled. However, they visited our house yesterday, and the installation took only two days!

The Boheco linemens
Around 10 AM, after the breaker was turned on, we offered them some snacks, like bread and soft drinks. We had a small talk before they headed back to work.
Husband is busy
My husband, thankfully, has electrical skills, so he was able to install the necessary outlets and lights himself after they left. We no longer need to hire an electrician!

I was also busy setting up the LED string lights.
I capture photos of our home illuminated by both the interior lights and the exterior string LED lights that I installed.

Ending thoughts
The day was busy and tiring, but also fulfilling. Everything was falling into place after all the hard work.
