RE: Weekend-engagement topic week 29: Talkin' toys

Yeah, there was a toy I lusted for.

By Revell, The Visible V-8. It was incredible in the early 60s when I wanted it so badly. The funny thing is my kid brother got it for Christmas one year. We actually talk about the thing, and he has since bought one for each of his boys (who are in their 30s and 40s now) AND he bought another for himself as a grown up. Talk about impact!

I honestly don't remember what I got for Christmas that year, but I certainly remember what he got. It was just too cool.

Ah yeah, I know someone who had this...I'm not sure where it came from, an original or one purchased as an adult, but he had it in his mancave...Along with some very interesting cars. I just looked and it's available on Amazon, but seems to be unavailable currently. I'll tell you what, let's go halves on it...Ship it to your place and you can construct and keep it there until I come up there to grab it and bring it down here for a while. Fair?

Oh that's so cool you can see everything inside the engine, I had a crazy idea long ago that I wanted to build an engine myself, lol. I can remember that was talking to.my ex boyfriend and I told him, I think I can build one we have almost all the pieces and a store near just in case, LOL. But I never did

I've rebuilt lots of motors now, but I never tried to build one from scratch.

Do you remember the movie Worlds Fastest Indian? Bert Munro (Anthony Hopkins) cast a lot of his own parts then machined them to fit. I read about him real time in Cycle World.

What a strange toy, you like to kill your creativity. Hehehe @bigtom13

My brother and I both thought it was the ultimate toy! Both gearheads that loved to take stuff apart and put it together again...

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

So this is the definition of a "Power Toy". So he has bought a total of 4 of these bad boys? That's some investment. How much is this thing anyhow? How much power does it pack?

I think it's about $50 today. It doesn't pack any power, but you can turn it by hand. Everything works...

Ha, ha, ha. Oh, I see. Well, it looks interesting and I bet that's part of the charm!

Hi Well I thought you will go with motorbike...😆😄I have something here for you but Unable to show you upload photo now. I send you you once I have a good connection 🙂
