My oldest sister (7 years younger than me) had Barbies! My Dad built a house for her and my mom taught my sister to sew making clothes. After my sister left home and her Barbies my mom stored them in a trunk.
One day we had a woman Mexican labor contractor come to bid a job for us. She brought her 9yo daughter since it was just a bid. Mom was captivated with the girl and gave her my sister's Barbie collection. The girl was out of her mind with gratitude.
That woman's labor crew did all our piece work from then on. Mom told the woman to bring her daughter when the crew worked and mom taught her to cook Angelo.
Oh, how lucky for that girl and her family.
I can imagine the joy of that girl.
In my day, girls dreamed of having a toy family and preparing for their adult family.
I think I played with that a lot, that I lost the desire to have my own family as an adult because of all the work.
Time passed and now I am looking for my Ken doll in flesh and blood. 😬 😬 But don't be afraid @bigtom13 I'm not inviting you to be part of mine.
Jejejejej 😂 🤣
She and her mother were so happy it was almost unreal. They used to stop in from time to time just to have a cup of coffee with my mother. It was pretty special.
I have no doubt you'll find your Ken.
What a beautiful thank you, I settled for a rag doll but full of good feelings.
@galenkp should make a weekend commitment to find me a boyfriend.
I have not been able to do it alone and I have been trying for 10 years. 😬😄😭😄😭😄😭😄
