Have you ever experienced being swung in glee and delight due to special event? When suddenly while enjoying the hour of the moment, a frightening incident robbed it from you.
Greetings from my heart to my ka hiveans out there. May we wake up each day with a new hope as we start this year with an escalated faith to God as we project in reaching our aspirations in life. This time, I will be unveiling a short unpredictable experience which has surprised me and has traumatized me a bit at the course of our celebration with the youth department's year start.
Our yearstart celebration was planned to take place in Moalboal Cebu . However, due to Sinulog Festival, it was changed in Tabogon, Cebu last Saturday. Nevertheless, since we just transferred home in Tabuelan Cebu, l encountered some few adjustments in terms of school time schedules, travel, even the climate in the province. Aside from that, second quarter exam was approaching that Monday, January 22, 2024. Thus, I wanted to decline joining it.
However, as I received a lot of messages from my friends inviting me to join in I felt a pang of guilt thus, I was urged to pack my things up at the spur of the moment.
Certainly, we enjoyed a lot fellowshipping with my friends and youth leaders who kept supervising us, the junior youth. Especially when we got ourselves dipped in the cool resort. It was such a blissful experience!
When from a distance I and ate Joycie cited a cute cat. I beckoned it to come nearer us with ate Joycie. It ran towards our distance then. We friendly held it and carefully touched its fur.
I was having fun with the cat because she was so friendly and tamed-like as I presumed. In fact she never hissed at me as a stranger though. I had no idea for an imminent harm to transpire at that moment. Just when I remembered a message from my phone unattended. So I took my phone and had a look at it for a few minutes. However this stray cat kept roving around my legs as if telling me "Please let's continue to play"
She probably got impatient that she bit my back right leg and ran quickly. My heart pounded fast Just when I realized the very thing that happened to me. All I thought afterwards was its venomous rabies and surely my parents would get worried.
When I got home that evening, I told my parents right away. Their eyes widened when I said, " Ma ayaw mo kasuko nako ha? Their foreheads wrinkled then. Papa replied, "Naguba (damaged) ang cellphone? Chekoy, my little brother added, "Agoy klaro kaayo nahulog (it fell) ang cellphone.😅. Mama was just calm and said, "what?"
"Ma napaakan ko ug iring 😢." in English "Mom, I was bitten by a stray cat."
The next day me, papa, and mama had me checked at Animal Bite Treatment Center in the provincial hospital to secure an immediate medical help. I was given 4 vaccine sessions. And yesterday was my second vaccine. Huhuhu I managed to be calm when the nurse injected the anti rabbies and anti tetanus vaccine on my shoulders. I felt draining in energy after taking those vaccines. There are two sessions left to complete my treatment. With this fear-injection struggles, mama kept telling me this is for your own good.

What to do when bitten by animals like dogs and cats:
- Wash it with soup and flowing water.
- Seek medical attention right away.
- Follow the vaccination procedures.
REMINDERS:
Stay away from stray animals.
Domesticated animals should have its vaccination.
RABIES SYMPTOMS:
- itchy and prickly sensation around the bitten area.
- fear from water,air, and light if it progresses.
- nausea, hallucinations, seizure, foamy saliva, difficulty in breathing, body hardening in worst cases.
LESSON I LEARNED
The lesson that I have learned from this incident is to distance myself from biting animals.
REFLECTION:
There are times that we are caught between good and bad memories. It is up to us what to cherish. However everything happens for a purpose. As for me both occurrences are meant to be kept as significant in life because...
Firstly, the ring of friends and close associates that I have who show their care for me by helping me get the first aid is costless .
Secondly, my family, despite financial constraints, ( the first vaccination is free, the rest has pay and you need to be paired by someone else who had bitten too or else you can't get vaccinated, unless you pay it the whole amount yourself. ) and this doesn't hinder their determination to have me checked and get vaccinated earlier.
Lastly, the cat bite. It was a bit frightening on my end. But one thing I want to stress about this. Life has ups and downs. Thus, let us be prepared to face every dark and light side of it. And be of good cheer for God knows what and how to make things work out together in order to sustain us through the good people that surround us.

Ooohhh! As someone who has a phobia of needles, this gave me chills. 🥶 What could be the reason? I actually don't know. Honestly, I'm not into cats because I had a traumatic experience with them before. But maybe something scares or hurts the cat, that it unintentionally bit you. Glad you have your vaccination. I also got bitten by my furbaby before, but his on complete vaccination including anti-rabies, and didn't have interactions with other dogs. I consulted with a human and animal doctor about it, and told me that it's fine if I don't get a vaccination, since his harmless. But I usually overthink, 😂 that's why I got just one vaccination finished since I didn't come back the next scheds because I can't deal with more needles anymore.
Oh hi @jeannmazing! You made me giggle. We're the same, I'm also afraid of needles.😹 In fact, it was frightening to know that in every session out of the 4 sessions, it requires not just one needle. As for your pet, I'm glad to hear that it was fully vaccinated, including anti-rabies. For those of us who are scared of vaccinations, it can be a bit overwhelming, especially when dealing with multiple needles. However, consulting with doctors is always a wise choice to get the right advice for our specific situation. 😊
Pet is stress reliever but sometimes can cause also stress if we git bitten up. Just becareful next time @blessie31
Exactly, @richdreamer. Since the incident when the cat bit my leg, I have become more cautious. Now, I am extra careful around animals like that.
