WE85 Post Topic: Learning ( My Dog, My Teacher)

Good evening, Hive people.

It's Saturday evening here in the Philippines and I just stumbled on a post from @galenkp which I think is timely. I am in a writer's block kind of mode at the moment and this saves my day. This is my very first time to join the community as well.

Anyway, I picked the word "Learn" with the question,

"Tell us about a time you learned a very valuable lesson. What was it, the circumstances around it, how did the learning process go and what was the result?"

Okay. I'm going to make this simple, short and brief. It may sound a little bit silly, but one of the most valuable lessons I've ever learned my whole life was a lesson from my wonder dog - Sofia. I adopted her just a week before the pandemic arrived. She was so dirty with lots of fleas when I got her (Sorry I don't have a photo).

So moving on.

Dogs love us more than they love themselves. My wonder Sofia had no reason to trust people, and yet, she cherishes and loves them genuinely. She does observes people who are literally harming, brings them down to her level, and embraces them unconditionally. She will sit and hold their hands.

Gaining one more of the best life lessons from dogs, we ought to figure out how to play as well. They don't stress over being judged nor looking senseless. They know how to let free and play only for the delight of playing.

I've learned more from observing how she moves toward life by halting in some opportunity to smell everything, to get amped up for straightforward things like vehicles and noisy things. To be up for new experiences. To be as eager to get back home, as we are to go out for a walk.

Sofia made me learn to accept everyone in our lives and meet them where they are. Yet in addition, to pay attention to my gut and in the event that somebody feels off, they probably are or sure.

We, people can learn so much from these fluffy furry friends. My objective in life is to be the person Sofia thinks I am.

This is why God gave us dogs.
