Could this be a dilemma?

What if I were given a choice between not being able to lie anymore or believing everything I'm going to be told? Would it be hard to choose a path or would it remain a dilemma?

dilemma - a situation in which a choice has to be made between possibilities that will all have results you do not want.source

One of the definitions of the dilemma shows that the problem stated above really is a dilemma, but there is another definition...

dilemma- a choice between two equally unsuitable or unattainable options. source

Now the problem gets complicated, at least from my point of view. Because the two alternatives are not "two equally unsuitable or unattainable options"

They are not two equally, quite the contrary, they are morally unequal and my choice would be very simple.

To "lose the ability to lie" means, logically, that you will only tell the truth!

A difficult or, better said, even impossible goal to achieve by your own strength. If "Someone" has the power to offer you this chance, to tell only the truth, I think you would be crazy not to accept.

Of course, I am aware that such behavior in life cannot be easy and exposes you to even greater risks than if you did the exact opposite, and told only lies.

The truth is hard to handle and I think most people don't even want to know it. The absolute truth! Everyone wants their own truth.

On the other hand, "to believe everything you're ever told" can be reduced to just one word:

Gullible!

Who would want to be like that?

Unfortunately, much of the world's population is. For many reasons... lack of education, unwillingness to learn, inability to know and learn, manipulation...

I fear that it is not a cataclysm like the one that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs that will cause the end of life on Earth... but gullibility!

There is, of course, and otherwise of gullibility. The gullibility of the good and pure of heart, unable to believe that others can and will lie to them, manipulate them in their own interest.

We now live in a world of the gullible and those who know how to take advantage of it. Neither one nor the other can tell the truth, the former because they pass on the lies of the latter.

In this world, the Truth has no place!

I chose the first option, to lose the ability to lie forever, in this hypothetical situation, but if it were really like that in real life, it would be a big problem for me. The desire for survival would push me towards the second option, to believe everything you're ever told.

Because I'd be lying if I said I'd die for the truth!

Lies or truth - Would you prefer to lose the ability to lie forever or have to believe everything you're ever told? I would like to say here that whatever the time and circumstances, a person should always speak the truth..And many successes will be found in this life if a person continues to lie for some time then he will be successful. And going further then he will fail.

It probably will.
After all, this is about absolutes, either truth or lies... but absolutes cannot exist among people.

Yeah you are right sir.

I agree with you that the two options you presented are not equally unsuitable or unattainable. The first option, to lose the ability to lie, is a difficult but achievable goal, while the second option, to believe everything you're ever told, is simply not possible.

If I were given the choice, I would definitely choose to lose the ability to lie. I think it would be a very liberating experience to be able to tell the truth, even when it's difficult. I would also feel more confident in my relationships, knowing that I could always be honest with the people I care about.

I chose the same thing but I don't see a good coexistence between someone who only tells the truth and those who mix the truth with "necessary" lies.
