I never really think of the civil war having impacted Florida, but I guess it makes as much sense as any other southern state. It's always fun to watch the cannons get fired off. I was at a civil war reenactment many years ago and I got some great photos of the cannon line firing.
I have to admit my first thought was "no way the Yankees made it down this far". I'm not sure they did, it may have been soldiers killed further north then brought home. The little bit of research I did stated the Florida was limited to mostly small skirmishes and only a couple major battles, so I guess there was more fighting here than I thought. Sounds like a metal detector adventure, while everyone else on the coast looking for pirate treasure. :)
Haha, yeah, that might be a good idea. I would share the same thinking as you. I would have expected there to be more battles further north and pretty much nothing down that far. I would guess some folks might have traveled north to fight maybe.
