A beach party and a gathering with the complete family members of my inlaws are as rare as a gem opportunity, I'd say. One of my husband's sisters has been living in Ireland even before we got married, while his other siblings were living in the city and are busy and focused on their livelihood.
And a few months from now, my husband will be working abroad again, so it's really hard to get these families around fully housed. So a happy and memorable moment like this with the whole gang is what everybody's wished for and we could not afford to miss this golden opportunity. And what way could we celebrate this precious moment better than having this on Cebu's longest shoreline, the liveliest and refreshing Lapyahan sa San Remegio?
Just fun!
Everyone was so excited and exuberant for this weekend to finally come. The plan was to have a beach party, a boodle fight, and our first complete family picture and a despideda party hence Mae will be returning to Ireland again.
So I prepared all the things we needed especially our Beach attire (shades of Blue for the picture taking) and headed right away to San Remegio for this fun exciting weekend.
We arrived at noon bright and unfortunately were not able to secure a beach cottage for us because some beachgoers are still occupying the cottage we wanted at Lapyahan. We almost choose the least cottage in our least fav resort due to our hunger and the hot weather but thankfully we waited patiently and our patience paid off!
Lapyahan sa San Remegio
Lapyahan sa San Remegio is a public beach on Cebu's longest shoreline. This beach has improved over time and it now has several food stalls that surrounded it. This is one of the favorite beaches of families or groups of friends when they hang out in San Remegio and watch the sunset.
There were several bamboo cottages and we were lucky to have rented the one facing the beautiful sea. When all our things were set, the boys then started cooking, and we girls/mothers watch over each of our kids with a little chit-chat on the side.
When everyone started to get busy with the preparation and my two-year-old daughter enjoyed playing in the sand, I took my time strolling the whole place.
A beach after a long busy week feels so good. The sea breeze is refreshing, and the sight of the shore, the kids playing, and the smell of the grilled meat spreading the air recharged my senses. I feel so alive!
Incomplete without food!
It was not so long, the food was all done and we were called to eat. The sight of the delectable food laid on the table whetted my appetite and eating together with my husband's family for the first time made my heart full. Seeing them very happy about their reunion almost made me teary-eyed.
After our enjoyable lunch, my brothers-in-law went swimming while we wait for the sunset and its orange tinge on the sky for our family picture. We wanted that glorious sunset as the background of our beautiful smiles! Who would not? Meanwhile, we used our time watching the people walking on the beach and exchanging laughter and talks.
Shots, sea, and sunsets!
Walking fast going to the shore, barefoot, in our blue attire we happily posed for our family picture. The first shots were for the whole family members, the second poses were for the kids and the last ones were for us couples/families.
We burst out in laughter during the kid's turn to take a pose. It is so hard to keep them in one place and let them smile! They just don't! They could not! Haha.
Sublime sunsets
Sunsets hit differently when your heart is full. The view and feeling it gives made me humble and grateful for all the beautiful things in life, big or small: the gift of life, my family, the good health, and the blessing I have and am yet to receive. I am beyond grateful for all of these.
Happy evening!
When the evening comes, we took turns singing in the Beach's Karaoke. While waiting for my turn, I strolled around together with my daughter. She loves lighting, anything that lights, so I made sure to walk her around first. We passed the different food stalls that were getting livelier as the night deepens.
We spend the evening singing and dancing. Definitely, this is one of my most memorable and fun-filled weekends!
How about you, what made your weekend memorable and fun?

Seriously, you could have told me! I was just a minute away from Lapyahan 😂 and you could have hired me as your photographer 😉
Anyways, such a big, happy family! Bet the kids had so much fun and your in laws cherished that special moment! I've tried the Halo-halo from one of the stalls! Perhaps we can share one once you visit San Remigio again.
