OUR HAPPY HUNT AND EPIC DINING ON THE OCEAN FLOOR! 😎

in Weekend Experiences β€’ 2 years ago (edited)

Not all happy moments on the beach are made up of swimming in the sea and crashing the waves, others are made up of drinking the wild air and literary dining on the ocean floor.

Hi beautiful people of Hive, this time I'm bringing you to another Sea Adventure, our unplanned and epic dining on the ocean floor that people do in my countryside yet done and experienced by only a few families.

Yesterday (Saturday), the calendar says the tide is at its lowest at 7 am. My brother, who loves hunting seafood is the one keeping watch of the calendar's schedule of the tides. Luckily the lowest tide for this week happened to be a Saturday so we traveled as early as 5 am to the nearest sea NOT just to hunt seafood but grab the chance to also have our breakfast on the naked ocean floor of Bogo City, a 30-minute ride from home. Nyamnyam. Hehe.

I have posted some of my hunting adventures together with my husband there at Tigbawan Beach, this time its a hunting experience together with my mother and brothers at Bogo Beach.

Preparing our containers for our catch.

Welcome to our fun-filled and low-cost bonding of the family, hunting, and dining on the ocean floor.

6:15 Arrival at the Sea

We arrived before the tide reached its lowest level, so there was still seawater at the entrance part of the sea. However, there were some fishers and hunters already walking towards the hunting area where seafood and seashells are abundant.

What a lovely sight! This beautiful view greeted us as we arrived at the Sea!

I looked around to see if there are also many hunters in the sea but instead, I saw this group of students doing their Coastal Clean Up Drive. I think they started cleaning as early as five. Coastal Cleaning is part of the In-Service Training for College students, I also tried this way back when I was a student.

Going down, we have to climb down this seawall. It looks steep but it has small holes that we can put our feet on for us to go down.

IMG_20221112_140519.jpg

Since we arrived earlier than the exact low tide, there is still a knee-deep water in this part of the sea.
IMG_20221112_140532.jpg
We keep on walking and passed this tall seaweeds. From here we can already start our hunt, but it's a little challenging because of the water and the fishes and seashells can still hide.

IMG_20221112_140618.jpg

I smiled as we passed a broken boat at the sea. Those who have read some of my Sea adventure blogs know my addiction to taking pictures of a boat on the sea. Hehe. And here's one today!

IMG_20221112_140630.jpg

Five minutes of walking and we could see that the water is getting low while my excitement was growing!

IMG_20221112_140710.jpg

Alas! The Low tide.

See that ocean floor? That is where we can pick some shells and crabs. Sounds easy right? But it requires skill and patience before you can find one!

IMG_20221112_140859.jpg

It may sometimes feel overwhelming looking at the bare ocean floor, or disappointing if the hunter hadn't found any. But when I hunt for any seafood, I just always enjoy the time full of discovery and adventure. I moved from the dry seabed to the part which has still water on it and vice versa. (trial and error). One thing I learned about seafood hunting is one has to be patient and alert.

Let's start the hunt!

What a good start! I found this seashell camouflaging on the rock! But sorry Mr. Seashell I have to pick you up. One down.

IMG_20221112_141137.jpg

Yay, another catch! A seashell that looks like a combination of an ugly rock on the outside, but once opened, what a delicious white flesh you will taste!

IMG_20221112_141639.jpg

Hi Mr. Crab! I got you! I am enjoying my hunt, ain't I?

The quirky catch.

Our quirky catch for today's hunt is the Sea Cucumbers. I call them the fat tasty worms of the sea. They vary in color, taste, and name. Usually, they hide beneath the rocks. To eat them, you must clean their outer skin first, cut their tip, and slice it in half!

The Lovely Catch

If we had our quirky catch, we also had our pretty catch. The clam seashells!

These are my favorite for today's hunt. We only saw a few of them most were the sea cucumbers and the jellyfish (the edible ones).

Callmesmile picks seashells on the seashore!

As I was carefully looking at the ocean floor eagerly watching the little moves of the tiny creatures I spotted this crab that looks like a dried leaf walking sideways. I guess he felt happy that I didn't pick him. If only he is edible!

IMG_20221112_141115.jpg

Look what I saw! Beautiful and bluish coral reefs! Lovely isn't it?

It's cleaning Time!
My brother was the one who cleaned the Sea Cucumbers (his expertise), while my husband was the one who sliced them.

Ready to eat!

Sliced Sea Cucumbers with vinegar and hot pepper as a seasoning!

BREAKFAST SERVED!

A bowl of rice, sea cucumbers, and jellyfish!

IMG_20221112_141624.jpg

We had a great time eating our breakfast as we shared our hunting adventure. Our laughter spread to the open sea and our tummies were so full of our fresh hunt! Not only we shared our unplanned breakfast tripping on the ocean floor but we also strengthen our bond in the family.

As to my baby, this is the first time that we brought her on our seafood hunt, so everything was new to her. She keeps on running and playing on the ocean floor! I could see how happy she was!
Meanwhile. we didn't let her eat our food because it was not good for her yet. So I made sure to bring her own food with me.

IMG_20221112_141547.jpg

That was our unplanned dining on the ocean floor! Hope you enjoyed it! We went home at 8:30 AM happy and full. As to the seashells and the crab, we brought them home and made some soup out of them.

What an amazing weekend with the fam @callmesmile ... Have been to low tides many times but sadly I don't know how to hunt..haha

Kalami nalang sa sabaw sa preskong kuhaπŸ’ž

It was a weekend full of fun and adventure.!😊

Don't stop going to low tides and try hunting, eventually, you will learn. Well, I'm not an expert in hunting, but I just love doing it! I enjoy picking seashells! Haha!

Thanks @ciadanmea for the comment.πŸ₯°

Seafood hunt? Looks interesting.
I see the tide is well used at your place. I live in Spain, on the Mediterranean coast and the tide here is not even noticeable. Nothing. But in the northern part of this country, which faces a different sea, the tide is much more noticeable and they also go seafood hunting :))
I am glad you had a great time!!!

Yes, we had a great time!πŸ₯°
Here in the Philippines, I think almost all of our sea has very noticeable low tides, and I realized now how blessed we are to experience the abundance of the ocean floor.😊

I saw a lot of beautiful and amazing beaches in Spain on the internet!😍

I wonder how people in Spain hunt seafood on low tides.πŸ€”

Thanks you so much for dropping by, I really appreciate it! 😍 Have a great day!

Good morning from the Philippines!πŸŒ„

Wow so beautifully taken ..like do you guys eat some of them raw?....

Okay let me get something here ..like when the tides are totally clear, the ocean water dried up and you guys walk on the ocean floor to pick sea foods

Precisely! 😊

Yeah, we eat some of them raw, the softer ones. Have you tried seafood hunting on low tides?😊

Thank you for dropping by sir.😊 Have a great day.πŸ€—

This is what I miss my home land...keep safe po.

Ohh. Where's your hometown?☺️

Thanks. You too, keep safe always.πŸ€—

What a great way to bond with family members! There's no need to spend even a penny. Just be careful what you get or touch from the ocean, some of it is dangerous.

Thanks for this reminder.☺️I'll bear this in mind always.

Thanks for dropping by Med.☺️
