Gray, rainy and cold day but this did not stop us and above all it did not discourage our son who also woke up early to go and visit the animal park. Today would actually have been the first day of Santa Claus Village, a place where the magic of Christmas and the company of animals would make it an extremely attractive place for the little ones.
Unfortunately, however, the event was canceled due to the upcoming weather conditions but it did not discourage us to come in and greet the farm animals. Personally, I really like walking in the rain, especially if I am inside the park, such a silence as to enjoy the ticking of the rain on the ground.
The animals were immediately delighted by our presence but above all by the food we brought with us: carrots, celery, rocket, hard bread and biscuits suitable for them. The first to rejoice were the horses, closed in their stables, but the snout was well protruding to bite into some carrots and celery, of which they are very fond.
Strangely, the two donkeys did not emit any moan or call, they were probably lying on their comfortable straw bed, warm and not at all willing to get wet for some carrots. The one who was particularly noisy was a group of geese who had already intercepted us from a considerable distance and were also demanding the right to some good snacks.
Walking in the wet earth and mud was not at all easy and several times we risked slipping, not to mention the pitiful condition of our shoes and pants, smeared with mud and earth. But my son had a lot of fun running in the rain, jumping in the puddles of water, chasing the dog Argo, stroking the cat who was blissfully resting on the chair, and then all the animals on the farm.
The day is so spent peacefully, the show of the Santa Claus village will be postponed to next Sunday, another reason to return to visit the farm, a very special place for children and adults, curated by the many volunteers and animal lovers and of nature. A small natural oasis where really bad thoughts remain outside that gate and the tenderness and sympathy of the animals always remind you of the more human side we have in our hearts.
I like to spend this time with my family, it is good for us all and reminds us how the frenzy of worldly life often makes us forget the essential of our life: love for the people who love us. Life is too short to live on distractions, we should all focus on its essence.
