Hi fellow Weekenders,

Today I'm participating in my first post of the Weekend Engagement topic since it changed up a few weeks ago!

Weekend Engagement: Florida Beach

The Weekend community has been a staple for so many, myself included, since it first came about. For some factors I haven't been able to participate in the changeup on my end but needed to fix that error!

The post is here which most people won't need to go and search but wanted to ensure if for some reason you didn't have it, there ya go!

For this weeks engagement topics I chose this one in particular.

🔸This week's topic(s)🔸
🔸Option one🔸
Tell us about one of your most favoured, enjoyable, beautiful or idyllic moments spent in nature - Where and when was it, what did you do there. Your garden, the woods, the seaside, tropical paradise or desert, a park in the city or the wide open plains; anywhere counts as long as it was a moment spent with nature.

Florida

One of the reasons I chose it in particular was because this was when my wife and I decided that we are definitely moving to Florida. This was all pre-lockdown stuff so it wasn't influenced by that overall.

We have wanted to change up our living situation for some time. We want access to beautiful weather year-round and the ability to be active no matter what's going on. The cold weather bothers my wife even though she's lived in the New England area her whole life, and I am always looking for something to do outside so we knew we wanted to shake up our lives and make it a goal to live in Florida somewhere, in the next few years.

Fast forward this global stuff and we want to be down there even more, mainly because if we need to do anything that requires staying in our house, what better place to be than somewhere warm?! Give me a fishing pole and I'm all set!

Hanging out on the beach here, in the middle of January which is unheard of in New England, down in Florida, our son asked us "is this somewhere we can live? I like the beach!" and with that we knew that it was a done deal.

We had to get a few things situated and we unfortunately took longer than we wanted it to, real estate prices have really gone up quite a bit but that's not stopping us. We will make sacrifices to do what we want to do and what we need to do for ourselves. We have lived at the beck and call of others for a long time and that gets tiring when in the end, people turn their backs on you or end up stabbing you in the back in one way or another.

"What about family?" Is one of the things we get all the time. Well, we live less than an hour from most of our "family" and yet none bother to visit or spend time with us. We have accepted the fact that they meant more to us than we to them, as difficult as that is.

The castle (family) we have been living near, despite being within reaching distance, has turned its back on us time and time again. They stay up in their towers while we fend on the streets.

This beach, hanging out here and spending time in peace and happiness was where we made the decision to change our lives and throw the naysayers shit to the wind, to be blown far away from us.

This is where we decided that we are going to destroy that castle.

But with that destruction, and other forms of destruction, comes rebuilding something new and better.

With my wife and son, together as the family that we have longed to have, we are going to build our own castle where we wish it to be. A lot of people have complained that we won't be able to do it, that we'll be back, and many other things but what we are building is a castle, not a house of sticks and straw. It takes time and dedication but the castle, if built properly, is there for a long time.

If we didn't go visit this beautiful beach, in sunny Florida, we may have always thought about moving to Florida but unsure if we were going to do it. In the coming weeks, that will be a reality that we will enjoy!

The peace that we felt hanging out in the sand, building a sand castle in the middle of weather that was back home unheard of, was a vibe that we felt it was time we enjoyed. One step at a time is all it takes to change. We have taken some of the steps, just need to take a few more and we will be at the top of the stairs of that journey!

For us, it all started on that beautiful beach.

Quality with family clears the mind, nothing is more greater than good healthy and love this holiday season

That's very true indeed!

There is nothing better than spending time with your family in such a place.

We want access to beautiful weather year-round and the ability to be active no matter what's going on.

Would you consider moving to Vietnam? The weather is warm year-round here. 🙂

Thanks! I don't know if I could convince my wife to move there lol we know nothing for the language and all that. It's a beautiful country for sure! We are open to things though, if we could get there would be the first challenge lol

There are many Americans living here. Don't worry, you're not alone. It's the challenges that make life interesting. 🙂🙂

Cresting a purposeful life where YOU choose and what fits with YOUR values? it's everything. Have you looked further afield to Mexico or Costa Rica or even Thailand? I can 1000000% recommend leaving the Mother Ship and experiencing life in other cultures.

I tend to think of blood family more like training wheels, and in later life we get to create our own family, and a family of choice. 😍

We have considered them but with this Rona stuff and the insane police state a lot of the places have become, we are a bit more hesitant to leave for another country. America has definitely got its fucked up stuff on this whole thing, not going to say we haven’t, but some others have had it worse.. Mexico doesn’t sound too bad though, so perhaps! I know we would definitely like to see more places and as well, where the dollar goes further but let’s see how things shake out!

America is sinking so fast... sadly the Titanic style illusion only seems to be working for those still on board. Mexico would be an awesome next step. And the beaches are so gorgeous!! Florida is full of retired jaded mindsets, as I'm sure you're gonna find out.

But totally with you on warm and flying far from the nest. 😊

Yeah things are going pretty wild. My ideal setup would be two or three acres of land so we can sustain ourselves if need be! I know it's expensive in Florida but that to me is a stepping stone. The land is cheaper in neighboring states but we just need to get ourselves down south. New England is an increasingly toxic area to live and raise a family in peace, no thanks!

Great analogy with the family and training wheels! Some families teach you what not to do and how not to treat others so that, if given the right situation, you can start one on your own the way you want to! I think that was a great analogy for sure :D

It took me a while to get my son to enjoy the destruction of the sandcastles after building but once he got the hang of it then we had much fun! They looked great!

Hahah yeah our son never had the issue of not destroying it. He's always been destructive, I had to protect them from being demolished!

Lol. They can be little terrors!

Hello @cmplxty! I hope you're doing great. These shots are stunning, there's a sense of closeness and familiarity in them I really liked. The fact that they're associated with such a major life decision makes them even more impressive. I'm glad you're taking this big step for the better, and I wish you and your beautiful family all the best! Thank you for sharing and trusting us.

That's great, thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you enjoyed it, we are nervous a little about the step but happy on the same token for sure! We need to do things for us for once!

Such a masterpiece, I have no words for it!!
Love the colors and atmosphere. Great photography style.
God bless you dear @cmplxty

Thanks! It was fun to build but even more fun to take a few pics of it!

Yanınızdaki ufaklık gün batımından daha güzel görünüyor.

Well, thank you. I have no clue what you said but thanks!
