I found another old post! It's never seen the light of day here on Hive so I thought it was high time I share it.
I'm sharing this almost exactly the way I wrote it originally for another platform that won't be named. This was waaaaay back in 2018 (??). It was before I met Mr @new.things that much I am certain of.
Wildflower!
As a woman who loves the bush, and loves, loves, loves HILLS, Wildflower got my attention the moment I entered the "Wildflower Garden" gates at St Ives here in Sydney.
A loopy, out and backy, bushy, hilly divine expression of parkrun, Wildflower is gorgeous.
As long as you're OK with hills.
Like real hills. Not just parkrun version of hills (like a wee little incline). I mean "I'm a long distance trail runner and I know hills" kinda hills.
If you are a parkrun tourist (this is someone who like to do parkrun AND likes to visit different parkruns in different locations) and you're partial to a hill, with plenty of trees to keep you company, or you've got your sights set on any longer race that has steep hills as part of its course...
Then Wildflower is for you.
Well done to Ernie, John and the rest of the event team for a very well-executed launch. I was thoroughly impressed and am already considering when I can head back to smash my 29:41 min PB.
Wonderful to see some familiar faces, and make some new friends (like Alex, in the photo, who I ran with pretty much the whole way). parkrun is about running, but gosh it's also so much about the people.
If you're considering heading to Wildflower in the next few weeks, I know they`re a bit short on the ground for vollies, particularly experienced RD's. So if you live nearby, or just want somewhere gorgeous to voluntour (that's parkrun lingo for volunteering while you're 'touring' to a different parkrun location than your usual home parkrun), then check out the future roster.
There's room for you and your awesome skills >>> http://www.parkrun.com.au/wildflower/futureroster/
Photo credit must go to the parkrun volunteer photographer of the day. There's no easy way to track down who that was anymore but photos taken on parkrun day are free to use and I'm grateful for happy, smiley photos such as this one.
I'm choosing to share this post in the Weekend Experiences Community for the highly imaginative reason that this was an experience... that I had... on a weekend :P
If you like to have experiences on your weekends and want to write about them you might like to check out this community. Galen, the Founder and Admin, writes interesting prompts each week that you might like to respond to. Or you can write about your own experiences. Up to you!

Such an inspired reason to post in this community...that your experience happened on the weekend.
It's amazing how well a weekend experience fits into a community called Weekend Experiences.
How truly enlightened of you.

Pretends to punch you from 2000 km away :P
