Hey there, Hivians! It's me, cup-bearer. It's been a long time since my last participation in this weekend engagement of Galen. When I read his post about the last weekend engagement for the year 2024, I recalled the times I participated, which helped me grow as a member of this platform. So this time, I chose this topic, and I hope you can spend a little time on it.

What were my goals for the year 2024?
One of my priorities for this year was the expansion of our small poultry farm. I planned to purchase more chickens in the months of February, June, and November to achieve my goal of having more than 500 layer chickens. But unfortunately, someone close to my wife asked to borrow a large sum of money because of their urgent need. She promised to return it by January, so I permitted it.
January has passed until we lost someone from the family in the month of February. We needed to help them as we shoulder most of the expenses. My order for the additional layer of chickens was canceled. I was hopeful that I could make it in the month of May. Every month we asked the person to return the money she borrowed. But she seemed nothing and not doing anything to pay back.
When the month of May came, we expected her to pay since she knew it was intended for our business. We failed again for the second time. Here, I realized that helping an ungrateful and abusive individual would lead us to a bad situation. She got mad at us and even scolded my wife for blaming her about the downfall of our business. She paid by the month of July, but it was too late. We sell our layer cages and existing chickens to Dawn, my one good friend. We needed to pay the debts we made for the business. Well, it's very difficult to deal with a narcissistic person. She will never think of herself bad and even got so mad that she never wanted to talk to us.
For me, this year is the most difficult year for our family. We helped people, but we can't even help ourselves. Is it too bad to be good? My thoughts bothered me, and I suffered anxiety because of it. I even stop drinking coffee, though it's my favorite drink early in the morning.
Just like the hashtag I made for our school, #ascend. I need not to waste opportunities for me to ascend. Hopeful and more courageous for a better 2025.
Though we failed to achieve that goal, there are more goals we have attained. Having a happy, healthy, and loving family. Despite the challenges and struggles in life, we chose to be happy. We lost our business, but we gained more courage to pursue our dreams. We hope that in the coming year we can reach our success.
Am I going to remain good to the people who hurt us?
Yes, I will remain a good person, but I will learn to refuse helping those ungrateful ones. I can forgive, but their actions toward my family will never be forgotten. I take it as a lesson. A lesson that I must apply for me to grow and achieve my new goals.

They failed us not just twice. I guess it's about time to take care of our family first. We already moved on. We have forgiven despite our present situation. But we can't just forget it.
