Few days ago I took part in the BDCommunity Homonyms writing. Last week, the topic said Never Have I Ever…. We were to write a few things we've never done and include a lie while leaving the readers to figure out which is the lie. On my list, I mentioned that I have never gone on a date and a lot of people assumed this was a lie especially @taysonn, @sarashew and @windygirl. But was it a lie? I still won't say but don't y'all think I wouldn't have made the lie so obvious? Think about it, it would have been too much of an easy guess.
I took a screenshot of some of the comments and posted it on my WhatsApp page and people kept on trying to figure out which was the lie but I still didn't affirm their assumptions. A classmate from primary school who is still my school mate currently in the university chatted me up. Below is a screenshot of what the text said.
I laughed when I saw that but someone was kind enough to make my wish come true so I agreed. We decided we'll go to my favourite field and we'll get pizza, talk and he'll teach me to play Chess. I don't know how to play chess so I was excited, I mean I am always excited to learn new things.
As planned, when the time agreed was near, I got dressed and left. We met at the eatery where we were to get the shawarma but we couldn't go to the field because the weather was gloomy and it later rained. We ended up staying in the eatery as there's no shelter in the field.

I didn't think I'll like pizza. I don't like how it looks. So rather than make a guy spend money on something I am unsure if I'd like or not, I decided that we'll get shawarma. Atleast I love that one.
My order
We ate our snacks and talked in between. I wasn't satisfied with my shawarma. I was very hungry so I opted to get a meat pie and another drink. So much soda for one day I know but I haven't had those in weeks so I think I'm safe. I will do well to burn the sugar out. After eating, we proceeded to play the Almighty Chess.
A second helping for me
I always find the chess game very dreadful. I don't know why though. All I knew about the game was that it required one to think critically before making a move so I was intrigued and curious about learning it. My friend started with teaching to identify all the chess pieces. I learnt that these pieces were made up of the King, Queen, Knight, Pawns, Rook and Bishops.
After teaching me about their names and how to recognize them, he proceeded to show me and make me understand their movements. He started with the Pawns. He said they moved a step forward, the Bishops diagonally in any direction and the Chess rules state that there is no limit to the number of squares a bishop can travel on the chessboard, as long as there is not another piece obstructing its path. The Rook he said moves horizontally and vertically as long as they have no obstruction on their paths too. Then he said the Knight moves in three shapes of L. He mentioned the Queen is the most powerful piece and the King the weakest but most important piece.
After a very detailed explanation we tried to play. Of course he whooped my ass because I am a learner but I was glad to finally have a little idea about it and atleast try to play it. I made mistakes and he kept correcting me. I always looked at my writing pad where I penned down the rules of the game before making a move.
After a few hours, we called it a day. I had a really good time but not the satisfaction of the date I want. For me it was just like two friends hanging out. I want the kind of date where I like a person romantically and I'm all dressed up in heels in some really fancy place 😂 so no, I still haven't been on a date yet. This was an outing with my friend. There are no strings attached. We school together like I said and we hang out sometimes so I'm still looking forward to my first real romantic date😁.
