The weekend is here buddies. Out of many names of days, I into so much of Saturday and Sunday's names the most. Maybe not only me but most of the hivers are also weekend lovers don't you? I happen to have had an unforgettable day, I will tell you all my amazing experience for this week.
So I had a big project from my college as one of my final grades, and I decided to choose a theme about creating a grand forest park map in my hometown. This activity was accompanied by a park officer and one of my friends who I trusted to accompany me.
For your information, this grand forest park has been established since 2013 until now. As a conservation area, this park serves as a place to collect rare plants and endemic animals for the purpose of research, education and nature tourism. Until now this place has been favored by teenagers for recreation and refreshing their minds while enjoying the natural scenery.
The first thing I did before making the map was to consult the boundaries of the park with the officer. I prepared a printed map of the area and asked for his help to provide the boundary points of the park before making observations.
When I was satisfied with the information I had received, it was time to make a visit to all the boundary fences of the park. I prepared the timestamp application that had been installed on my cellphone to photograph all the boundary fence points so that coordinate data was available to facilitate map making.
I didn't take all the coordinates of all the fences in the grand forest park because doing so would take a lot of time and effort considering that the size of this location is truly breathtaking. I only took a few and the process of creating the map in the mapping software will be assisted directly by the officer. To determine which points I took, I chose to take them from the 4 cardinal directions of west, south, north and east.
Honestly, I really like the view of the open landscape like the picture above. We passed through the area to get to the next guardrail point to take coordinates. The weather at that time was very friendly so we could enjoy the activities outside without fearing that something would happen to the weather that would hinder us in making observations.
What I didn't miss on this visit was the urban forest area. Here I can witness the state of the trees that are well maintained by the responsible party. each tree is given a safety from rubber tires to maintain the quality of its growth so that it looks neat and still towering.
After having enough fun in the open area, we now entered a more challenging stage of exploring the forest area without any equipment. Upon entering, somehow the atmosphere changed 180 degrees. It was rather dark, cold and humid in there. Sometimes we also slipped because we stepped on moss on the rocks.
When I had gotten all the points, we decided to end our observation and take a short break at the park attendant's rest area. We called the other officers to join us to enjoy the food we had brought while chatting together.

Broadly speaking, the image above is an illustration of the results of observing the guardrail of the grand forest park. This result was also formed in consultation with park officer. The area after being delineated using Google Earth is 47 ha. The next step that I will take is to create and design a mapping to fulfill my college assignment. Hopefully my assignment this time can get results that match my expectations and hard work.
