I don't think that this topic is a simple to answer as yes or no. First of all I am not sure what Immortality would entail. For example would I still age but just not die? Being bedridden for ever seems like a nightmare I would try to escape as hard as I could. Another potential problem: would I still feel hunger or thirst? That would also be very unpleasant insane torture. And that is without even considering the fact that I would outlive everyone I would ever know and love... As far as I can see immortality has mostly downsides and not so much benefits. Sure I could make as much art as I would ever want and travel entire world...Except I don;t even like traveling. And after eternity even the best things like making art, having sex or watching basketball would probably just feel boring and empty of any joy. So my answer to the question if I want to be immortal in standard way would be: thanks but no thanks. But there is a but. I would hate the immortality in the way it is normally understood. I don't want to go heaven, hell or spend eternity here on earth. I would much prefer to simply die and to no longer exist.That seems to be the most peaceful and less annoying ending for my life. At the same time I would love to be immortal in my own way. Not as a person but as an artist. I want my works to outlive me. If they could last forever and inspire countless people as well as make them stand charmed by the beauty I had created...that would be an offer that I would be interested in.
